you might be right. Its funny, reggaeton here in miami as far as I know was pretty much exclusive to hispanics with little american influence but now it has transcended so much that now americans, blacks and other anglo people frequently listen to the stuff as much as they did hip hop and other terrible music. still very cool to see other people listen to amorphis too. (although im not a huge fan of their tbh).
Amorphis was part of my metal formative years in the 90's so i have fond memories of them. But I hear all kinds of metal from all over the world so I am not a critic either. Just like with food. I love almost everything.
only subgenres I can't listen to are probably metalcore and nu metal. Only metalcore bands I can say I like are probably Jinjer and Parkway Drive.
I like Prog, Death and Scandinavian Death. I also like some metalcore but it tends to get monotonous and old really fast. Most bands sound the same.
I have seen Gojira live a couple of times. Next summer they are in Finland at Tuska festival. Amazing live band.
