Chelsea has no one other than their striker (giroud earlier and abraham now) running at the net. Puli scored a few of his goals just by making those runs. Mount stays at the edge of the box all game and it's just too crowded

Panties Abraham with a bad case of the Jozy Altidore's. Can't create and can't score so looks for the foul, tumbles over and grabs his face, 'oh no, how did I miss that for the 400th time....'

Chelsea can concentrate on league from here on out. RC for Alonso.

Bayern is being merciful. That Christensen guy in Chelsea's defense makes one miss Zouma. Instead of signing Sancho, they need to buy a couple of top class defenders.

    Chelsea just got destroyed today.

Lots of their fans are ripping the players, but what about Lampard? Is he at this level?

Did he set up his team right, did he put the best players out there against a fast attacking Bayern side? Was 3 CBs needed, or did it created chaos and confusion among themselves?

    From the Shed End:

    "Lampard looks lost."
    "He really hates to lose."
    "He’s getting used to it."

Well that escalated quickly. Who knew Bayern would be able to exploit a defense including *checks notes* Cesar Azpilicueta?

Very OT but what a performance from Alphonso Davies. Hard not to root for that kid.

Chelski can't default to grinding out low-scoring ties, esp against good teams, they don't have the D. They have to put up goals or they're toast.

Whoever stated upthread that they need to focus more on overhauling the backline had it spot on. You could make an argument that they need two CB's and 2 FB's before they need another winger.

I think for an EPL team they shockingly lack the one thing you'd think they'd have -- some pace. Not only are their defenders slow, they aren't particularly gifted with the ball at their foot or in the air either. They are just mediocre in every aspect.

    He's becoming a monster LB.

    $22M was a steal.

I am old school. I still believe defense wins games.

Bellichick didn't win all those super bowls with a poor defense.

its only entertaining if the team plays attractively. You’ll learn that here on bigsoccer.

Idc if this is the squad player from Chelsea thread.

Alphonso Davies is a $100m player. He’s magnificent.

Somehow I doubt Alphonso Davies has ever golfed in his life. Also much more likely to learn how to speak Spanish.

Looking like he'll need to if he stays on his current trajectory. Stratospheric potential.

So Canada has had a player actually start in the Champions R16 while the USA's only had a sub (Reyna) and three injured players (Weah, Adams, Pulisic)?

And the Mexicans, with Chucky & Herrera injured, not even that?

this sounds pessimistic but it’s an all-time high for us in a season.

chucky is injured apparently but even if he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be playing. Maybe the same with Herrera but that’s more unclear.
