Here we go again. I may not have any expectations but I am looking forward to the season starting. We've played in Orlando twice I believe, and once before on the first game of the season (that memorable day when we gave up two goals in stoppage time to draw 2-2). One loss, one draw. Oscar Pareja is debuting as Orlando's coach and they have re-tooled their lineup once again. We have exactly zero healthy, fit forwards who will normally start this season, and Everton is suspended. Which we may compound by starting both Herrera and Glad out of position to "compensate." No, really; I am excited!
I was in the stadium when we gave up two goals in literally 20 seconds to end up with 1 point instead of 3. Orlando is a great place to visit but I see no way we get a point in this one.
3-0 win for RSL. Hat Trick by Pino Rossi. From the "Duh, I didn't know that department", the patron saint of soccer players is St. Luigi Scrosoppi. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luigi_Scrosoppi And in case you are wondering, I would think that the patron saint for soccer referees is Saint Lucy of Syracuse, the patron saint of the blind.
I listened to the RSL show - I work from home now and the access to stuff like that given my local wifi and such is going to potentially be a problem - and they are cautiously optimistic about this squad as a whole... but do not have a great feeling for this game. What is funny is how they talked about "this has been such an amazing preseason" but then also talk about how the three preseason games have been utterly painful to watch. So, you know, that totally makes sense. What to expect for our lineup? Who the hell knows. Honestly, I can't say I know where any player will be playing. I think it's safe to say that certain players will be playing, but we don't know where they'll be on the pitch.
I haven't seen this formation before. What's it called? 1-1-1-1-2-2-2? I dunno but I think we would have problems on the left side but we would overpower other teams on the right side.
Going on their definition of "amazing", one could say that FC Cincinati had an "amazing" first MLS season in 2019. Maybe "amazing" is just short for "amazingly bad". I will predcit that sometime during the game, there will be 11 players on the field (This is 'Merica! It's a field, dammit!) for RSL and maybe some of those 11 players will kick the ball. Other than that, I dunno.
Only twice? Orlando has been in the league since 2015, so I would have expected to have played Orlando more than twice. At least once a year, so at least five times.
I have never been less excited for a season since RSL came into existence. I've even considered canceling my season tickets to get my money back. Probably wont but still I've never really contemplated such a thing until now. If I were to predict this season it has nothing but craptastic written all over it and the Freddy Juarez tenure could end up under circus in the dictionary. Prove me wrong. PLEASE!!!!
Yep... No real excitement at all. Imma gonna watch and cheer, but it feels so dead. I have to keep reminding myself that opening game is actually this weekend. Let's go RSL! Help me!
RSL Show (god I'm starting to sound like a commercial for them) said that it was a third of the price of Plata's contract. That would mean in the $240K-$285K range Unless they are pulling a used car salesman trick and using Plata's rumored asking price for 2020 (1.2MM) which would then move it to roughly $400K
