He's not played much but he's been healthy for 10 months in a row, which is a record for him. But probably because he's not played much.

And he scores again against just-promoted Varbergs. 4-0.

Aron Johannsson set two goals and made an assist in this year's competition premiere against Varberg (5-1). His first goal in the club, but he himself says not to be worried. When he got healthy and exercised, he knew the goals would come. See the interview here: https://buff.ly/2PmEGVR

Glad AJ is back and having a bit of success. Always liked this guy. Not much drama. Just trying to get the ball in the net.

If he's healthy and scoring he should be considered for the national team, sadly. That's the state we are in.

That has been and should always be the case with natural, intelligent, instinctive goal scorers, which is what Aron is, at his best. Somehow our country only has, like, 2 or 3 such players, of whom he is one. If he can go a whole season without a major injury and play well, he's definitely back in the picture

I haven't had a chance to see him recently, but I would not even say "sadly."

The guy has had success at a decent level. While he didn't really make a dent at B1, it's hard to uncouple that from his injuries.

No shame in having him on the roster for a friendly.

Let him be. Another injury and, at 29, it'd be curtains for him. International duty produces a surprisingly number of long-term injuries, no one knows why. I think for him it's more important to keep doing well with his club & manage a last transfer or at least an extension in better terms. Right now he can't be making much, he was a free transfer with a crappy assessed market value.

    if the
Right now, he's playing for the equivalent of a Championship bottom-feeder in a league whose bottom third wouldn't make the playoffs in the USL Championship. Why not call up Gbolyi Ariybi while we're at it? If the USA can't qualify out of CONCACAF without Aaron, then Beerholder will have crossed over from completely inadequate to malignant incompetence. Qualify without him, and if he's rebuilt his career to, say, Eredivisie level, check in on his form, fitness and degree of interest in when the warm-up games start.

As for his wages, Hammarby are one of Sweden's biggest clubs, so they could pay lower-Championship wages if they wanted. Given his injury struggles, assessing his market value would be a mug's game at best, but their motive was surely that at even half the player he was when he went to Holland, he'd be pretty effective for them and if he gets back or near to his former best, he'll power them to the title and maybe Spring EL games. The most likely scenario is that he's on a very low base salary, with high bonus payments for being passed fit and further bonuses for making the starting XI.

Hopefully it was because he sucked and not because he broke something and will be out injured another year.

I see David Ousted has retired to Hammarby. Didn't know that. (I say this totally tongue in cheek). He was really good in his time in MLS.
