Actually looks like they got two kit sponsors. Rady Children’s is on the right sleeve as well. Also more keepers sets.
If they really want to go all in they need to get Tacos El Gordo or Lolitas to be on the other sleeve
Umm best leave the "Best Taco Shop in San Diego" debate until later they're still trying to grow the brand. Don't want to piss off any Robertos fans ;
My current fav is a little hole in the wall on El Cajon Blvd and Fairmont. Don't even know the name but best Adobada i've had this side of Trump's wall.
I mean it is the 8th largest city in the US that until this month had not had a pro team in close to 20 years despite some of the highest measurable soccer interest in the country. And interest has been very high by all accounts in this team which isn’t surprising given Donovan is involved and the primary owner recently launched the Sac Republic who are MLS bound. Plus you know... tacos.
Are they tex-mex tacos? I've never been to RGV and by all accounts i've read/seen it seems almost like San Diego in terms of culture (well not as big of a melting pot) so it wouldn't surprise me if they had awesome tacos. With that said, if they are Tex-Mex tacos you get in San Antonio/Austin/Dallas etc then I'll pass
Speaking of expansion, starting tomorrow seems more appropriate SD take its place as an active market. To that end I’ve requested SD be given their own board if y’all wouldn’t mind chiming in. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/san-diego-loyal-sc-board-in-usl-subsection.2108951/
I was about to mention the exact same thing---somewhere. Because there seem to be several (2 definitely), but I thought more) threads on San Diego anyway.
I've asked one of the USL moderators (SoccerPrime) in a PM on Feb6 but haven't heard back. Didn't know there was a board for requests, so probably wrong channels.
Yeah my understanding is that is enough post in the request thread in support they’ll make it happen. So everyone add their support. Not sure simply liking the OP is enough.
Nice turnout for last night’s preseason friendly! Especially considering the Aztecs were also going for win 27 last night at home (and failing), and the Gulls were at home. And honestly I’d never heard of the opponent Costa del Este before. Loyal did a bang up job for the first game. Well organized, parking was easy, they had helpers everywhere, Warren Smith was at the gate greeting people when I arrived and Torero was as expected a great venue with perfect sight lines for soccer from my seats on the endline. Didn’t hear any complaints. And of course they came away with the 1-0 win. Having been a part of 3 different “inaugural” D1 and D2 launches between the San Jose Clash in ‘96, the reactivated San Jose Earthquakes in ‘08, and now this... I’d easily rate this the best Day 1 experience.
They have found there niche....getting past the initial 2K will be the challenge going forward. As you said, Aztecs were playing and a good portion of their potential fanbase would be there instead (unless they couldn't get tickets). I know they don't want to battle the Padres and Xolos so Saturday afternoon or Sunday evening games will be telling if we see more than the 2-3K season ticket holders.
I mean they’ve already got past that 2k, there were about 4k there last night. If they can maintain and grow that with actual league games they’ll be doing fine.
Well it was definitely a sellout. And the crowd looked and sounded great in person (on TV too) Personally the night was a shitshow for my family and we had to leave 20 minutes in, but it wasn’t all the team’s fault to be fair and they tried to make it right. My little one took ill and was inconsolable due to the noise in our section. But it didn’t help that my season seats were suddenly located in the visitor fan group section where the Lights fans immediately set to drumming and swearing as you’d expect a supporters group to do. First I’d heard that 106 was now the visitor section was when they started drumming. Sucked too because I chose my seats in the top row of that section specifically because I have kids and need space and that section had great field views. They’ve offered to relocate me but I don’t think I’ll be that lucky again to get a top row seat. Sucks too because I was turned off to 1904FC due to an issue at the first game I went to of theirs. Fingers crossed I can find workable seats on Monday.
1-1 draw. ESPNNEWS aired it. The Locals sounded pretty loud, but some of the shots of the seats had ppl looking pretty bored. announced attendance was over 6,000, though. Supposed sellout. Entertaining match. I look forward to maybe making a match soon, and seeing the Championship on TV. Looking forward to taking on some MLS teams in the Open Cup!
Don’t think there’s any supposedly about the sellout. As for people looking bored, not sure anyone was that I talked to.
Yeah the general vibe was positive and engaged. I was in the supporters section so I little biasedbut overheard multiple positive conversations as I was walling out. Stayed pretty full until the end as well which is impressive for San Diego.
On the last point it helped they moved people in and out of the stadium and parking pretty efficiently from what I saw. And second that other than myself I’ve heard nothing but positives. And the team is already trying to work to solve the issue I had.
