Cementing my team's advantages through the middle of the park, I pick the greatest French player of all time, Michel Platini. I already have the defensive foundation of my team, so now I need an all-time great attacking talent to build my frontline around. The French midfield general brings creativity, penetration, goals, and even a box-to-box qualities.

    Important:

José Miguel (Peru FC) said he would go for a player from Monaco, Parma or Juventus, who does not go for a player from those clubs, can move forward with the orders.

I go for Andreas Brehmen <Bayern Munich> and I hoard two high-level left wing backs (strategy)

I will make my next pick now too, although possibly Peru and msioux will be picking soon - I'm not picking a player who played for Penarol, Milan or Roma either.

Luis Figo becomes my 4th player, and I'll go for 1997-2001 for the tournament:

I'm using Barcelona as the link.

@msioux75 after your pick you can pass things over to @TomStevens (if Peru FC has picked) or I guess Tom could pick now too if not wanting a player who played in the same club as Thuram or Schiaffino.

Sorry, maybe I will take away and I've still about 3 and a half hours to pick.

You can continue choosing if the players have not played for AS Monaco, Parma or Juventus (my available Thuram connections).

My window is ending now, so although I might have a quick look to see how things are in about an hour, it'll probably be tomorrow morning when I make my 5th round pick.

You've cited an old summary in which your last player, Andrade, still didn't appear.

Sorry for the delay mates, I had parental obligations.

The archetype of the modern goalkeeper, he's widely regarded as one of the greatest or the best of all-time in his position and has been renowned for his consistent performances throughout his career, his concentration and calm composure under pressure, superhuman positional sense, outstanding shot-stopping abilities, quick reflexes and his major influence and role model...

Did La-Maquina's turn definitely end Peru? I'm just wondering whether his window will have closed (like mine) and so the time he could have picked was when he was asleep?

Good work with the summaries, and chaining colour codes (with red for a club that can't be used again, green for one that can) btw!

Sorry to post extra messages in here btw - I'll make this the last one - but maybe it's better for some comments when related to drafting to be in here rather than the discussion one. I thought Peru might be more likely to see the one above about La-Maquina's window quickly too, if in here, and that it might make sure Tom and La-Maquina would see it when they next log on.

I definitely think it is a good idea for people to check whether they can skip ahead of others when they are ready to pick (but important to check that the player chosen didn't play for the same club as the one last selected by the person being skipped...or like with Figo/Thuram the connection wouldn't be valid because Peru FC had used two Barcelona links already).

For me, and I guess La-Maquina too, I think the earlier it can get round to us in the evening the better, so maybe if other drafters can make picks in the morning time that helps, if possible. But maybe it'd be ambitious to try to get us all picking 2 players per day anyway (so far it seems to be one per day).

Ah, ok, La-Maquina has picked now! I just was aware I didn't want to be skipped by mistake myself, so thought I'd check for La-Maquina too about the window.

Anyway, maybe Tom will pick soon anyway, but I can go ahead and announce a pick that didn't play for Tottenham, Real Madrid or any Croatian clubs: Patrick Vieira

I'm using Inter Milan as the link. I'll use 1999-2003 for the period relevant for the tournament games.

Still @Tom Stevens to pick, but even though he might not be awake now I guess @msioux75 can also pick if he chooses a player who didn't play in any of Modric's clubs. I made a mistake myself last time by tagging the wrong Tom Stevens I noticed lol, but think I did it right this time!

Yes. I was going to extend, but, luckily, La-Máquina has already chosen.

Yes, I've asked for it when anyone want to do it and so far everyone have been careful (what is appreciated).

Anyway, I'm checking each individual connection for errors.

Curiously, I could already select my next player, none before me can choose him.

To be honest, is not a bad rhythm (for the usual in other drafts and considering that this participation is very international, from different continents and timezones).

Nobody before my next turn will be able to select him, so I get ahead...

A modern and highly talented defender, gifted with excellent technical skills and tactical ability, he's usually considered one of the greatest defenders and best readers of the game of all-time. Renowned for his pace, elegance on the ball and fair play (never earned a red card), he was an ultimate error-free/cold player who excelled in sweeper and libero role in a 3 or 4 men-line exploiting his attacking potential and also took a more defensive role as centre-back in his late career...
