Another bad challenge by Spurs (just as bad as Auba's) goes without a red. But it's ok, bc it's not Arsenal.
I'm usually not in the habit of rooting for Chelsea but in this case if they put spurs to the sword I can get on board. It sets us up to potentially get to within 3 points of the team currently in 5th... them.
I'm watching on a delay, and just saw this. The way the rules are so inconsistently applied is maddening. I don't know which is more maddening: not getting a red card, or not even being carded for the offense at all.
They said that the folks at Stockley have admitted their mistake. They should've instructed the HR to review it on The pitch side screen. IOW they're admitting they probs made the wrong call… Should've been red. Question: can Lo Celso be retroactively banned???
No idea if they can still issue a red card since it's already been reviewed. If so, then I wonder how far back they can retroactively go to correct mistakes? Would Maguire kick to the balls on Monday be re-reviewed? Or Fred's shove that was overlooked on the disallowed goal? Obviously, there are some plays that went against us I'd like them to review also...
Just catching up on the Sheffield Brighton match and whoa there was a GOTS contender from none other than LWB Enda Stevens?!!! When you get a chance check out the strike as well as the tricky little short corner that preceded it. (Couldn't find a video clip yet to post here)
There is no way to get that wrong by mere variance decision to decision I just can't believe that. None of us here would that decision wrong.
I also find it very odd that they then send word in the live broadcast that it should have been red ... Like what the hell? Is it complete amateur hour? Why do that? And how the hell would that situation arise? Who suddenly overruled the original decision? Or how did the original VAR dude change his mind so dramatically?
And the FA are very fortunate that the error didn’t effect the outcome of today’s game, unlike Monday’s between Chelski and ManUre. Still, it’s stupid to acknowledge the error while the watch is still being played and do literally nothing about it is stupidity on top of stupidity. The fact Lo Celso didn’t even get a yellow for his stomp, coupled with his yellow in the 81st for a dangerous high kick, means he should be sitting out for at least one future match, if not three matches for a straight red. Since there is no punishment to the player or team while the match is still being played even when the error is acknowledged is just maddening. VAR stopped play 2 minutes after an unseen offense about a month ago, so it seems there is some precedence that reviewing players isn’t necessarily time-bound if the match is still being played.
This means the VAR morons have missed the 2 on Pepe, the Maguire cock kick, and now this. But funny how they managed to overturn the Auba decision. Aubas was a red, don't get me wrong, just funny how his is the ONLY one.
Well except that England waited for other leagues like MLS & Bundesliga to be early adopters, so that they could jump in at like ver 1.2. But they managed to botch it anyway.
Can’t wait for VARMaxHD powered by Budweiser. Doesn’t matter what technology or ideas they try next, somehow Arsenal will still get screwed.
Juventus is behind this. With better VAR, they lose the title to Inter a couple seasons ago. And Napoli.
It's almost as if they didn't want to send off a player from a team that is key to their top 5 race entertainment
Speaking of which, Arse have 2 pens in all competitions 14 penalties now this season for Man Utd— Orbinho (@Orbinho) February 23, 2020
