Speculation or inside info? Also, what's up with Corey Baird? Don't think I've seen his name in any of the lineups. For the first game, Everton is suspended. So I don't think the lineup will look the same week 1 to 2.
Anyone know what the guys at RSL show were hinting at regarding having the scrimmage at the same time as the SKC game? Sure hope that was a one-off as there was nothing in that game that Freddy said he was going to implement. Anyone know how healthy the team is? Who's hurt, who can come in as a sub and who's ready to go 90?
No inside info, just an attempt to put facts and trends together. He showed up unfit, to my knowledge. It’s unknown how long it will take him to become match ready. He still needs to show he has adequately healed from his injury and can still produce. He and his agent are more than likely asking for way more money than RSL wants to spend on so many question marks. I think RSL would like it all to work out, I just doubt it will unless he comes way down on his asking price. Maybe if it becomes a contract that is mostly based on incentives it’ll happen.
Gambling has an economic side to it, of course. He has to demonstrate that he is worth the gamble at the price.
Only got to see a few minutes of today’s match and from what I saw we are in trouble. The only guy that looked dangerous was the guy we will probably not sign. Really do not understand how this club can believe they will be competitive in a league where most teams are signing players who have a proven record. We look like a club just happy to sell some tickets and maybe win a few. It’s going to be a long year.
Bryce Duke, an 18 year old CM former academy player of ours, made his professional debut for LAFC in the CCL last night. We traded his rights to LAFC this offseason.
Info on the Leagues Cup has been announced: we have the MLS #2 seed (and hence will play whoever the 7 seed in LigaMX is, based on aggregated finishes in the split season). July 21 or 22, at the RioT. Hopefully the cat has been invited.
I'm sure the team has procured some tasteful stationary and envelopes to deliver notes to the referees, too.
If firing the guy and having the new guy adopt the cat isn't a big enough apology I don't know what is.
I've been reading the Garber site way too much in recent weeks, and I also got bored and aggregated the preseason player recognition. No, I don’t. Although I’m not sure what “young” is there. Glad could be close if he is “young”. I also think Herrera and Everton are the only others who might be close at their positions.
kir, I want to add to your comment. I noticed on transfermarkt (I know) that RSL has the lowest total market and lowest per player value in the league. Surely that indicates a talent deficit of some sort. Some numbers: average team market value is $29.95m (11 teams above this) and the average player value per team is $1.11m (9 teams above that, 3 very close). For RSL: $17.77m and $592k...
Yes, a team clearly lacking standouts. No Rimando, no Savarino, depth replacements coming in along with an unknown 18 YO. Not sure where all the money was spent. DLH bragged at start of offseason that they had a lot to work with, and then RSL dealt Lennon and rights to Duke for GAM and also sold Savarino for $2M. Feels like some penny pinching is going on.
Yet there are folks who still maintain that RSL has a top 5-10 payroll and that ownership spending is not a problem. And...it’s not if making the playoffs is the goal. I think this season might be a benchmark of sorts. I think RSL’s road to the playoffs is going to be harder in 2020 than it has been the last couple of seasons. Less than a decade ago we were 1 goal away from playing in Tokyo for the Club World Cup. Now our ceiling is to make the MLS Playoffs. IMO this organization has a “Vision” problem.
Somehow the already paltry RSL preseason schedule of 4 matches was trimmed down to 3 games at some point within the last 48 hours. Anybody know what happened? This is a shocking, inexcusable poor effort at readiness for the upcoming season. Is this delusional thinking about what this team needs for preparation, or poor logistics and execution? Absolutely terrible no matter the reason.
I planned a trip to Orlando with the kids 5 months ago. When the schedule came out it just so happened that the first RSL game was in orlando the same week we had booked flights. It was fate right?!?! I mean, what are the odds of that! That dumb luck is the only thing that has me hoping for a result instead of a 4 - 0 romp next week. Then again, the weather is typically in the 80s at this time of year and it looks like it will be in the 50s. Maybe I shouldn't get my hopes up for a team that has shown far too little passion for competing for a trophy and far too much passion for touting the owners name.
Did anyone notice that the RSL v HOU preseason game isnt being aired on the KSL app? The same app that RSL says will have all the preseason games. The same app basically says that the team wants every game to be more accessible than air itself. 4 - 0 blowout on a no show and the propoganda machine ensures no one can see it. Deloys fingerprint on the club and jersey again. Gross.
This is the best time of year to go to the Disney and Universal parks in Orlando. The temps are typically mild and not as much rain as in the summer. Enjoy the game...they have never had a home game when I’e been in town.
