Don't know how I missed this thread. Love CONCACAF champions league, looking forward to this addition. Really cool that one of the non-big two from Costa Rica is in this, I'll be rooting for them against NYCFC. Rather have it in English, but no FS2 so I'll be watching in Spanish.

What's the point of the tripleheader if it doesn't free up space for other games. The Thurs 8ET slot is completely empty now, why can't they play then. Makes no sense.

You have 2 games on the same channel Wednesday Has anyone found out why the NY game is early instead of in the Thursday 8pm slot Has to be the earliest schedule start for a CCL game. TFC and Comm both played in early afternoon rainout makeups.
Noting here that according to my Xfinity guide, the LAFC game will be on FS1 and the Sounders on FS2.
Atlanta won 3-0 to win the aggregate 4-1. Motagua didn't have a shot on goal. Cruz Azul vs. Portmore United is delayed, but I don't know why.

The Atlanta game was fun. Good atmosphere. Atlanta were all over them, reminded me a bit of last season's play-offs when they kept missing chances.
The MLS and Mexican clubs advanced. NYCFC won 1-0 at Red Bull Arena. After 513 games for Alajuelense, last year Patrick Pemberton went to AD San Carlos. He's a 37-year-old goalkeeper with 39 games for the Costa Rican National Team. Saprissa had 70.2 percent of the possession and more shots, 13 to 3. Shots on goal were 2 each, nobody scored, and Montreal advanced on away goals with a 2-2 aggregate. Tigres advanced because goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman scored in the 90+4th minute to win 4-2. A 3-2 win would have made a 4-4 aggregate and advanced Alianza, who had more away goals, 3 to 2. Tigres won the aggregate 5-4. I wonder what the most important non-penalty kick goal by a goalkeeper in any soccer game ever was. Distance doesn't determine whether the goal was important. Comunicaciones led 1-0 away, went down a man, Club America tied it to make both legs 1-1, and Club America won penalty kicks. Both goals in regulation were penalty kicks, and Comunicaciones' scorer was the only player on either club to not score his penalty kick at the end. Especially if winning penalty kicks counts as a draw for the purpose of points accumulated to host in the Semifinals, it was bad for Club America. They host the first leg against Atlanta, and if they advance they could face Cruz Azul (won both legs) or Leon (won at home and plays at LAFC tonight) in the Semifinals. In the other half of the bracket, if the same club wins both legs of NYCFC vs. Tigres, that club will host the second leg against Montreal if Montreal reaches the Semifinals. If Seattle vs. Olimpia is a draw, the club who advances will face Montreal with both of them having only 2 points behind the Quarterfinals. If NYCFC wins one game against Tigres and advances, they will host the second leg of the Semifinals unless Seattle wins tonight and both legs against Montreal. Here are the Quarterfinals with the second leg host listed second: Club America vs. Atlanta Leon or LAFC vs. Cruz Azul NYCFC vs. Tigres Montreal vs. Olimpia or Seattle If Leon and Seattle advance, the Quarterfinals will be Liga MX vs. Liga MX, MLS (Canadian) vs. MLS (American), and two Liga MX vs. MLS with each league hosting one first leg and one second leg.

If Alianza were smart, they'd set up a clinic on how to put up a fight against teams from Monterrey and sell all the tickets to MLS reps
So WOW The best opening round of a CCL I can remember. The quarterfinal matchups: Atlanta United (USA) vs. Club América (MEX) Cruz Azul (MEX) vs. LAFC (USA) --- Tigres UANL (MEX) vs. New York City FC (USA) Olimpia (HON) vs. Impact de Montréal (CAN) As well, looking ahead at potential order of games for the semifinals, we have a really unusual spectrum of results so far: only two teams on 6 points (Cruz Azul, NYCFC) and three on 2 points. Finally, the nerd in me can't help but revisit the parallel seeding competition for next time around (updates with points earned in R16 plus 1 point for advancement to QFs, eliminated teams in red): MEX2 104 MEX1 99 MEX3 92 USA3 75 CAN1 63 USA2 57 USA1 53 USA4 49 --- MEX4 48 CRC2 39 PAN1 38 CRC1 36 HON1 35 SLV1 35 HON2 34 GUA1 27 CCC1 25 So it's official: MEX4 will be stuck in the lower pot for next year thanks to León crapping the bed, while the US will get to keep all 4 teams in Pot 1 as long as Olimpia don't win the whole thing.
