NYC's final ball/final touch before the shot has been AWFUL. I know they are up 2 on the road, but they could have 4 or 5 goals EASILY with decent play in the final 3rd.
"Tough to defend when your arms are up in the air." This is why you play to the whistle. Really naive defending from San Carlos. This would be shockingly bad in the USL.
It's as simple as playing the ball first-time more often. San Carlos can't track runners, so if they play the pass just a little bit faster, they're going to get tap-ins for the rest of the night.
He is a good pickup. If it weren't for an ill- timed broken leg he could have ended up at a top European club.
Agreed. NYC is playing too safely. They are missing wide open runners to instead pass to the player standing 5 yards away. It is driving me crazy.
Aguilar...goal I was going to write that in had doubts about Costa Rica having the 3rd strongest league on CONCACAF. That goal doesn't change that
That sequence a few minutes ago where Mitrita was standing in acres of space on the left wing killed me. All they needed was for him to make a run onto a decent diagonal ball over the top and he would have been 1v1 with Pemberton.
That goal was caused by NYC players lollygagging on the offensive side. Heber is running his socks off, gets to a ball and passes it back towards the top of the box. Guys like Parks are not following the play, but simply jogging around like he is in a practice session. Pathetic look. NYC should seriously be up by 4 goals and instead are up 1.
Terrible pass in to him. If the ball is hit decently, he is walking in on goal. Very, very, very sloppy final balls by City.
Learning a lot about William Shatner's sleep disorder and proper pronunciation of Bundesliga clubs during this halftime. The change in narrator voice while reading the phone number in the SoClean commercial is jarring.
He played for them on the 13th. Did he retire in the last week? (Genuine question, don't mean to sound snarky) Also, old man Saborio scored 13 goals in the Apertura. 13! This season!
Defense extremely optional on both sides. 4-2 with a half hour to go! Maxi Moralez on for Parks, and he has to be salivating at how wide open the San Carlos defense is.
Honestly, that was mega-stupid from Johnson. He was casual to the ball and then undercut his own teammate rather than just collapse on the ball and stay out of his way.
Johnson got such a late read on that shot. Terrible defending by City, poor goalkeeping from Johnson, great shot, and now it's 4-3 all of a sudden.
Just when youre starting to get comfrotbale here comes the third goal for san carlos..... comebacks always happen in CCL. Hopefully this wont be yet another. Can NYC FC hang on for 10 mins?
