It is what it is. I'm not a fan of it but the RFEF allows it and Barca aren't the first take advantage.
In England they allow such a move for goalkeepers only.

it really stinks for Leganes though. they're already struggling to avoid relegation, just lost their top scorer En-Nesyri to Sevilla in the January transfer window, and now they are powerless about losing Braithwaite since his release clause is being paid.

Wait ... we are triggering a release clause ? That's messed up. I thought they'd have a choice in the say.

    yup. 18million euros.

Leganes definitely did not want to lose him:

Leganes owner Felipe Moreno: "The truth is that we're very worried. After what happened with En-Nesyri, staying in this league gets harder every day. I can understand that Barcelona do this if the law says it but I thought they could not sign an active player and only one not contracted. Yesterday they called and they were thinking about it as well as others. I understand that Braithwaite would go to Barca, I would too. That said we're not negotiating anything. Pay the clause or he stays at Leganes."

I believe Braithwaite is/was their top-scorer this season and not En-Nesyri

    right. my bad.
i think he might have been their top scorer last season.
either way, Leganes now sits in 19th place in LaLiga and have lost their two best strikers in the past month and haven't replaced either. but at least they're still better than Espanyol :p

He’s only scored 8 goals in the last two seasons according to Wiki IMG_3791.PNG

    your math is off.
past two seasons (he moved from bordeaux to leganes in january 2019):
6 goals (2 assists) this season + 4 goals (5 assists) last season with Leganes + 4 goals (3 assists) last season for Bordeaux = 14 goals (10 assists)

Still not brilliant though surely 14 goals over 2 seasons for a striker

Ramos has scored 11 just this season

Braithwaite also scored 3 goals in 5 games in Copa del Ray of which one of them was a game-winning goal against Real Madrid.

But how many goals would other strikers have been able to score for a bottom club like Leganes ?, I mean ... as mentioned, then Youssef En-Nesyri was sold to for €20 million to Sevilla this winter, but only managed to score 4 goals for Leganes this season before being sold.

    Ok you’ve convinced me ..

He won’t be a certain starter though - he’s still got to get passed Roberto and Rakitic :)

for a very weak team, plus many of those games he played as a winger, so that's actually a decent record.. that's the main reason he was chosen ahead of Angel - he can rotate with all three of our forwards.

    full disclosure: i am half-Danish, so i admit i'm a little biased.

the Danish fan in me is thrilled for him and I hope he makes the most of this opportunity.
but the Barca fan in me is furious with the club.

Well, Barcelona did not have much of an option ... non of the top clubs would be interested in selling their top strikers and so you would need to trigger a giant release clause, so I guess it came down to either "old man" Ángel Rodríguez who won't be worth the fee due to his age vs. a younger, physical strong and fast moving Braithwaite, where they at least got a chance to get their money back later, if it does not work out.

But as written before, Braithwaite is a "Viking" warrior and former team captain when playing in France, so he is the kind of player who you can count on to thrive and grow when being under pressure. Again, he has scored against both Barcelona and Real Madrid playing for a bottom team + also delivering the decisive goal for Denmark in the very last Euro qualifying game away from home.

Besides Braithwaite being faster and more flexible, age obviously also come into play for two reasons, Barcelona would also have to trigger a release clause for a 32-yo Ángel Rodríguez and should he then suffer an injury, everyone would blame them for having signed an old player who then would have been money straight out the window.

Haaland’s release clause is only 75 million. We should sign him next year

This summer or next one ? I doubt very much he will leave after 6 months. He probably stays there for 2.5 years IMO. By his choice.

Let's see how he progresses first. He is good finisher but has a bit of a heavy touch.

BTW ... he is a big Ronaldo fan. For those that care.

The worst board in history of football. I would rather pick Nunez over this clown Bartomeu.

49 million euros for Trincao and Braithwaite, one of whom will not even arrive until summer as a longer term project. The other of whom will be sold immediately upon season's end to who knows where (probably China).

Haaland to Dortmund for 20 million.

Hakim Ziyech was available for 40 million.

Carles Perez was free as is Alex Collado.

    This board in a nutshell.

And let's not forget the most glaring need on the team, a quality center back (preferably two). Oh, and you loaned out one of the most promising players on the team in Todibo.

This is why Leo can't have nice things.

Bergwijn to Tottenham for 32m. There's shrewd business and then there's the complete crapshow that is FCB.

Well part of the reason why our board seems to be making more and more bad deals is that we so massively overpaid for players like Coutinho and Dembele that we are seen as being desperate on the market. We are the idiots who have been inflating transfer fees. I'm sure agents ask for at least 20-30% more from us than any other team.
