I'm of the opinion that it's a little of Column A and a little of Column B. If a company like Subaru (young, exciting) can get involved with a franchise like Philly (stagnant, forgettable), then who else will be looking to throw money at more top-of-mind franchises.
I don't understand this point of view. I'd still buy a Subaru tomorrow if I was in the market for a car. They're supporting a thing that we love, isn't that what makes a Subaru a Subaru?
My husband will always drive a Subaru as his primary vehicle. He loves his Outback, and we will be upgrading to that lovely Ascent at the end of the year (hopefully).
To paraphrase Roy Scheider, given your family situation: "I think you're going to need a bigger car"...
The day I sold my WRX to buy a Mazda5 was a sad day. The Mazda is now paid for and I like the no car payment much more than I would like any other vehicle option. But when it's time for something new, it will definitely be another WRX.
I tend to run my cars as long as I can (but have lost two to accidents not my fault). So I've usually been pleased when I was time to move on (a little sad, of course)--though I'd hoped for another two years out of my old Honda that was totaled in 2018. But I'm enjoying the additional safety features on my new Corolla and the better gas mileage (40 highway on some trips). Bur Mrs KG is going to hate giving up her 2003 CR-V when the time comes--the boxy version is good for her as it has better vision as she is petite.
My 2005 Outback Sport is still going strong. I just enjoy not having a car payment and we don't travel much anymore. We still won't buy Bimbo bread though.
Not my opinion, I don’t mind the brand, they just don’t fit my requirements. I just thought the tweet was funny.
Subaru is a great catch for Philly and league. Good for them. From my experience, it's a very regional brand. I remember being in Atlanta and never seeing one. Go to Michigan (or Colorado), and they're all over the place. I question this person's kids' definition of "old ladies." Adults who maybe need to drive in wintry weather but who don't want an SUV drive Subarus. Subaru drivers are insanely loyal. It's a very outdoorsy brand, from its marketing. Not exactly something grandma gets to drive to church (though it would work). Mazda's new CX30 (an AWD, slightly elevated, improved sight-line version of the Mazda 3) is basically their attempt to get into the segment that Subaru is known for.
The guy is in NC and admits a state bias. I have always looked at Subaru as a 4wd station wagon, seemingly ahead of its time considering the popularity of the Traverse/Acadia-type vehicles.
My wife and I both drive Hondas as neither of us are "car people" who actually care about having cool vehicles or anything. We just appreciate practical things like safety, storage space, fuel economy, reliability and longevity. With that said, I encourage everybody to go out and buy a Jeep Wrangler preferably or at least any other FCA made product for their next vehicle. I assure you I have no financial incentive/agenda in saying this!
My husband drives up to Cleveland (TriC) for work. He tells me that when the weather is bad he has to remind himself that other vehicles are not going to react in the same way his Outback is going to react.
My 80 year old mom and 51 year old sister drive Outbacks. I've heard Subarus are popular with lesbians for some reason. Mom and sis aren't one.
If they make the J6 with a small-block V8 and pare down the tech, you'll have a sale! (Already have a TJ Wrangler Rub).
Have you checked out the Crosstrek? If we did not have a family, then that is probably what Tim would have bought. He loved the test drive in it. My MiL loved our Outback so much she went ahead and bought a Crosstrek.
I believe it was Own Goal Hat-Trick who once owned a WRX. He would frequently sing praises and comment how fast it was.
Im a Cadillac guy had a 94 Fleetwood for years wish i still had it and never got a Escalade. My Escalade was just recently stolen and I’m not sure what I’ll get next because i still have a 2015 Camaro . But it will be a Cadillac if it’s a car or GM if I get a truck. Every GM I’ve had last a long time and drive much better than Honda’s which I HATE! Wife had a Honda Pilot and Civic both ride like shit . I also still have a 76 Cadillac Eldorado convertible and I may have to sell it one day. It’s being repainted and hopefully will be ready for my oldest son who is having his SR prom. If Cadillac sponsors the Crew I would literally jizz in my pants . That is all
