Liga MX teams don't let you get away with so many missed chances. 1-1, and Cruz Azul doesn't really deserve it.
LAFC's front three look like they're picking up where they left off, which makes sense as the same three started across the front at the end of last season. The defense and midfield look like they're still in preseason.
The Red Bulls lost to W Connection in 2009-2010. Since the records given didn't have any losses to CFU, that's how I knew that was excluded. In addition to W Connection over Red Bulls (aggregate 4-3), MLS had these Preliminary Round aggregate losses to CFU with the club that advanced listed first regardless of which leg they hosted: 2008-2009: Joe Public 6-1 New England 2009-2010: Puerto Rico Islanders 1-0 Toronto FC 2010-2011: Puerto Rico Islanders 5-3 Los Angeles Galaxy
Not quite top attackers but they are definitely starting to throw money at some of the second tier top players in the league. spending 20 mill on a fringe MX national team player will not be sustainable business.
This is sort of the reverse of an LAFC mls match. LAFC would often soak up a lot of first half pressure (and seem second best) and then just obliterate the opposition on the counter. In this game Leon is doing the same and looks more then capable of scoring plenty on the counter.
I'd suggest that Vermes's extreme aversion to squad rotation contributed a lot to that. SKC fans noted that Vermes had a tendency to run his starters into the ground about two-thirds of the way through the season and predicted it would happen even earlier in the season last year. And lo and behold, the SKC starters seemed to hit a wall in league play around the same time they were getting crushed in the CCL.

Yeah, if LAFC wanted to win this tie, trading ZImmerman last week probably wasn't the best idea. 1-0 flatters LAFC in the first half.
