Have you ever read stuff from that poster before? Kinda par for the course. I actually think it is a shtick
Its interesting... I am sort of flirting with the idea of trying a coaching career and what becomes immediately obvious is that there is no real diction or vocabulary for so many moves. I call it the 90°or 180° ball for my team.
He has to learn the winger role so they can play "safe". One bad pass in the centre and Neymar & Co. will make you pay.
I mean, the entire sequence was brilliant.PSG were shredded. Note Reyna in space calling for a quick ball.
With that 180° turn, it gave him 1.5 steps against the d. Perfect pass and excellent finish (obv.) but the turn made the play and haaland the goal. The real loser in all of this is coach jesse marsch ;(
he reminds me of of a central midfielder argentina or uruguay would produce. A taller strapping lad with excellent balance and no real weaknesses. He's strong enough already to hold off challenges and not rush combination play. Pulisic falls victim to that too often imo. Pulisic will forever be a winger, nttawwt (especially one as talented as Pulisic, who can still do things with the ball at his feet nobody else on the USMNT can) but a player like Gio is even rarer. edit: seeing some spanish language tweets from Argentina fans about the possibility of getting this kid over to their side. It has zero chance of happening which makes it so delicious. A 17 year old US midfielder playing in the UCL and coveted by Argentina because his grandma is from there.
regardless of what your name is, for whom would you rather play given the option? Argentina or the dumpster fire that is the U S ?
If you were raised in the USA by two former USA international players? Probably still the dumpster fire that’s had you in the program since you could dribble a ball.
I once asserted that DeMarcus Beasley was as valuable to a side as a very, very young Cristiano Ronaldo. Perhaps you didn't see that, but it was still said. It may actually be one of the worst opinions in human history. (pertaining to sport)
A very solid performance from the 3rd youngest player ever to play in a CL knock out stage game. He was part of the play that set up the 1st goal then he had the penetrating dribble and fantastic pass to set up an even more fantastic 2nd goal from Haaland Monster. I love how he finds space for the pass that sets up an attack. Just a sixth sense for him IMO. Also love the way he was able to hold that ball up on the sideline late in the game against two defenders before being pulled down for the yellow card. I sense his first start coming soon after another less than inspiring performance from Hazard.
So fun to watch these guys. Dortmund has their mojo back, in large part to Halaand but a good chunk from Reyna as well. How exciting to see how good he is against really competition. That breakaway dribble when he was pinned on the sideline was nice, really nice. Assist was gravy. Even without it he is looking the part. Golden generation. I've said it before and will say it again. Well, maybe golden muscle-strained generation would be more accurate.
Maybe someone can help. I couldn’t see the game (stuck in traffic). But the announcers of the Pool - Atleti game on SXM said Gio played the key pass to unlock the defense in the first goal, so hockey assist/key pass. I haven’t seen that reported elsewhere
I think the kid is really exciting and I hope Haaland doesn't leave too soon, but I personally think that was a fairly average pass. It's fair to say that putting balls right where people want them makes everyone better but that play was all about the finish for me.
you just missed it then. seems like a guy going through a bit of a "slump" relative to his own incredible hype machine. It happens. Pulisic was there last year.
In the postgame presser when asked about Håland’s performance, Favre mentioned that he received “a super pass from Reyna” on the second goal. Considering that he’s a coach who hates talking up (or down) individual players as a general rule, it’s clear that he really thinks of Gio as the truth.
It was a nice pass. Still is only turned into a goal by a wonder strike but the swiss cheese has to line up for it to happen. He did as good as you could do in that scenario. Kinda like an NFL play where if do your job as a blocker and let a playmaker get in space 1/10 something incredible will happen. I bet in practice he delivers passes on the mark like that time and time again which is why Favre was so quick to praise him. And some praise to Favre as well who I have critiqued but clearly knows a thing or two about man management. just rewatching on goal the announcer on the english broadcast said "didn't overcomplicate things and that went a long way towards the goal". That's a good way to put Reyna's contribution imo. Kept is simple let his stud make a play and hit him right in the shooting pocket.
