Will Crew games home and away be available live on Directv Sports Pack as they were last year? I’ve always had season tix, but had to give them up. All games except maybe 2 were available last year via this option on Directv. I might be slightly incorrect on how many home games were shown since I was at those games and didnt rewatch every home game. Still, my recollection is that almost every game was available live, a couple on delay, and a couple not shown.
I’ve had the Direct Kick package for years and has always showed the games live. The price has stayed the same over all of those years too. Not sure if that helps or is what you’re asking.
Every game was live on FS Ohio Cleveland (not Cincinnati, grovel grovel mutter mutter) or on SportsTime Ohio with 30 minutes of pregame and 30 minutes of postgame coverage. The game at Cincinnati was on Fox Sports 1. Some fans in/near Dayton reported different results. Fans who only get one feed of FS Ohio could maybe report different results. In this case, the FSGO app is always available. If you live out-of-market, you'll need a subscription to ESPN+. Every game in 2020 with the exception of the one at Cincinnati should be available on the FSGo app if you live in-market or the ESPN app with a subscription to ESPN+. I don't know why you mention the DirecTV Sports Pack. Games on there are usually blacked out, per league policy. Did you mean Direct Kick? So yeah, it appears nothing has changed.. If you get one channel of Fox Sports Ohio, your provider stinks and you need to switch or figure out what works best for you to stream the app on a TV. If you get both, you're good. If you get SportsTime Ohio, without blackouts, you're good. If you can only get those channels with a sports pack/tier subscription, you'd probably be better off with Direct Kick or ESPN+.
If you live outside the market, then ESPN+ is a great deal. For the price of, what, $60 a year, you get nearly the whole league. Most people spend more than that on just one month of cable or cable cutting services lol.
We added Disney+ because we already (uh with possible sharing) had Hulu and ESPN+. Cost a dollar or so more a month.
I live in Hilliard and used Sports Pack to watch/rewatch all of the away/home games. they were on channels 620 and 621 for me I think. Sometimes on a different channel. Only a few games (2 or 3) were not broadcast live. I initially had direct kick but cancelled it on first weekend when I could not watch the Crew game on the 700 channels. I was on the phone with Directv tech support while that first game was in progress and 20 minutes into the game, the game was activated on one of the 600 channels that had been blacked out. After that, i had no blackouts.
To further clarify, my base package did not include the two channels in the 600’s. It was cheaper (for me) to add sports pack than to upgrade to another base package that included those channels. They also gave me some discounts as apology that made sports pack almost free.
Ive used Direct Kick in the past but first game last year was blacked out for me. Directv Tech Support was no help and couldn’t explain why it was happeninh (“we do not control blackouts”). game was in progress so when they suggested Sports Pack and $ were less or comparable (i don’t remember exactly), I did that and it worked. I don’t think the game was supposed to be blacked out for me but it was. i get stressed out about this b/c I have no way to test in advance and based on last year, even their tech support could not tell me if the blackout was proper or not. Their answer to that was to tune to the channel and see if the game was on or not.
Yeah, but is your Disney+ approx ten cents per day? My Disney+ cost probably beats your Disney+ cost.
That's crazy. FSO and STO should be considered local channels in Hilliard. There's no way you should have picked up games via Direct Kick, unless it was years ago before blackouts were enforced. (We're talking circa 2002-2008 during the ONN/Columbus Sports Network years.) I just know on my TV, every game was live on either FSO Cleveland (aka FSO, not the Cincinnati subfeed) or STO. There were a few times my guide said games were live on the Cincinnati subfeed, but that wasn't true. Most of the guides get their info provided from third-party companies. Here's what I would see via U-Verse: 1732 FSCIN (Various) 1734 FSCLE or 1735 STO (Pregame, game, postgame. Every time except the game at Cincinnati.) Maybe the games were rebroadcast on 1732, but I almost never paid attention to rebroadcasts. I do know that if the guide claimed games were live on 1732, the info was wrong. If a game was rebroadcast on 1734, that info was correct.
I had that problem when I had DirecTV. If it said CBJ on one channel and Cavs on the other, it usually was the other way around when I went around to watching the games. After a couple of times, I figured it wasn't a one-time mistake with the guide but an always thing with them. It never happened with PS VUE last year.
I may misremember what happened in that opening day but i think i signed up for Direct Kick, discovered it was blacked out (correct or not, i could not view on the indicated channel), and then added sports pack to get the fox sports channels needed. Other years Ive had the channels in my selected base package. However, it seems Directv yearly reorganizes the channel lineup and pricing of its base packages. You will be shocked, shocked I say, to learn that these channel lineup reconfigurations have never been beneficial to me. It sucks because in addition to having to threaten leaving every year to get a reasonable rate, you have to spend time trying to figure out which package + add ons will provide that reasonable price and the channels you want. their channel packages seem designed to screw you because of your preferences rather than fit you. They have big time data on what their customer cohorts watch and must use it to design the packages to NOT fit those needs.
That is very strange that they'd make you add a sports tier for a local channel. Typically, the channel owners indicate what "we want these channels available to X% of your customers and these channels available to Y and Z% of your audience" but I'm sure you knew that already. This is part of the reason why the bills are so expensive, but I digress. Either way, the home opener is on STO this year.
YouTube TV is the best free DVR and if i select Columbus Crew it automatically records the full match
Yep Verizon i pay for iTunes family and can’t even use my free iTunes Im kinda mad about that . If i kick my kids and cancel my iTunes only then can i redden my free iTunes
I’ve done Direct Kick many times. When I tried it last year, the first game was blacked out for me. That could have been an error but their tech support could not answer that. All they could say was tune to the channel and see if it’s available. Since the game was on, i went with sports pack because that got me the channel needed. i was a little rushed because the game was on while i was trying to figure this out.
Thanks for this. I wanted to confirm ahead of time rather than my brilliant plan last year of trying to arrange access to the game at kickoff.
I’ll put a second vote to YouTube TV. The DVR works great (unlimited cloud storage). Lineup is good. Good add ons for premium channels. Definitely a good option to save a little bit from cable while still maintaining live tv
I'm trying to figure out which streaming service I should go with. Weve always used Sling but they dropped the regional Fox Sports channels so I need to move on. Was gonna just add on to our basic Hulu account and add Live TV but after putting in my zipcode to see the channel availability (I live in Toledo) Fox Sports Ohio is there but I don't see Sportstime Ohio which is strange because I figure they would just come one in the same. I checked YouTube TV and it looks like o should be covered with them, so unless I find out otherwise about Hulu, Youtubes looking like my best bet.
