Well we should just give up now then. No point in trying. Barca's record this season hasn't been that great either but I'm sure you're narrative won't apply to them.

No. People want him to wake the f up.

It's not hard to understand that Bale and Marcelo are two of your weakest links in the squad and yet they are playing games where we need to do something productive.

Zidane acts like we're 10 points clear of Barca in the league and he's got room to experiment.

Zidane is well protected by fans because of his track record.
Any other coach makes the same mistakes in team selection and the same lot would put a bounty on his head

We knew about Marcelo and Isco before the season started. He will continue to play these guys in games regardless of their form..

With Bale it’s a mystery.. it probably boils down to him not trusting Rodrygo/Vini/Brahim enough .

In what he fail the most yesterday to me were the subs

Huh? What logic is that? All I'm saying is people are frustrated because it was a great chance to open up a gap and he ********ed it up by taking it too easy. This may in long term come back to haunt us since you can't bet your money on Barcelona losing or even drawing simple matches too often.

    Stupid post.

Give us the examples of these coaches who are leading their league with bounties over their heads.

It's the same mouthbreathers who have hated him from the beginning. Some of these idiots wanted Mourinho as if he wouldn't do worse.

Dude hasn't lost a league match in months and some ass clowns who can't even tie their shoes right have an opinion.

    It's comedy

Nobody hates him. Don't make the name blind the mistakes he makes though.
Even a series of draws is enough to lose the league

    From a non-dysfunctional club.

Even the guy they replaced him with us doing good best Valverde impression.

I don't think anyone wants Zidane's head, it would be stupid to replace a coach right now.
Some things Zidane done great, some far from great. he is judged by results at the *end of the year*. he wins La Liga or CL, in any fashion, he'll stay.
if we finish trophy-less at the end of the year, I'm not sure his future will be so bright. That's just Perez/the club operates.
in that sense, the week of the City and Barca games is critical to Zidane's future but not what will decide his future.

Most posters raised the points I’ve been thinking about myself.

My main concern is Zidane not utilising his squad and relying on the same players who continually under perform. Either they eventually come good or he starts to learn from his mistakes. If neither of those things happen it becomes harder to see him as the man to take us forward.

On the other hand no one obviously better immediately springs to mind.

I don't think he's done anything as yet to warrant calling for his head. He hasn't been perfect and there's room for improvement but this overreaction is ridiculous even with frustrations being high from this weekend.

I've been very criticizing of Zidane, but really, that's his methods, this is his tactics, take it or leave it.
He has his favorites (like some other coaches as well), its part of Zidane.
Some of these players he saw winning so many trophies and he just have greater and longer faith in these player (for sure greater than a lot of posters here, including myself). Again, nothing to judge right now.
The season starts in 2 weeks basically.

For me that is his biggest problem.

    Zidane uses too much.

Too much of some, not enough of others. Marcelo and Bale have no business playing anymore. Vini, Rodrygo, Jovic, and Brahim could play more imo

We are stuck with Marcelo playing. Mendy can't play every match. This is the reality.

As far as the others playing more... how? He rotates them and plays them a lot. Even Jovic has gotten a lot of burn lately.

My main issue is playing the likes of Gareth Bale.

However we were playing one of the worst teams in the league. If that isn't a time to rotate, when is?

In the end not even Marcelo's shitty positioning and laziness cost us. Varane is the one who did

Hope it was just an off day for Varane. He had a bad run for a while and we can't afford him falling back into that unmotivated form

I understand his decision to start Marcelo, and not finding minutes for all the youngsters can be easily justified, but this is completely on him. Bale is not invested in this club, he's not pulling in the same direction, he is not part of this team, he lacks the effort and drive to wear the shirt, and should not be playing any part of any game. This isn't rotation, this is stubbornness from Zidane, trying to placate the media and give the impression that there are no issues with Bale. There are issues with Bale, that relationship is toxic, move on.

While I don't think Lucas isn't quality for this club, he never cheats you on effort and he wears the shirt with pride. I would have had a much easier time justifying a decision to start him than I do with Bale.

To be honest what concerns me is it isn't just Varane.

Casemiro was off, Benzema has been off for a while now, etc..

It won't matter how we play or who we use if we have key players struggling to put out decent performances.

    Zidane infuriates me with that.

Every time I see Bale even on our team sheet it's like a slap to our faces. I don't get what he wants to do with him starting.

"When it seems clear that he'll go with a functioning system, he reverts to a previous one.

When a player plays well and stakes a claim for continuity, he's left out of the next game.

The confusion is more so with his team selection, but it's his substitutions as well.

His decision to remove Toni Kroos for Luka Modric and leave Real Madrid's midfield exposed against Celta Vigo was bizarre, as was his choice to shift Vinicius onto the right when he was wreaking havoc on the left."

He's trying to keep the squad, or certain players of it happy and motivated.

Marcelo's inclusion is a personal matter.

Maybe he's risking results for the mental wellbeing of certain players but even though I don't like the results I understand them.
