Good atmosphere and off to a energetic start. McKennie has a had a couple touches in the first 5 minutes or so.
McKennie charges forward and has a shot blocked after the ball falls to his feet. Has had a hard time making an impact in the first 30 minutes.
Half time. I tried to watch as diligently as possible with a one year old climbing on me. Mainz and Schalke haven’t been giving a lot of compelling moments to hook anyone in. All the players a looking kinda average. McKennie has had a few moments going forward but nothing that could be considered dangerous.
Weston playing a good game so far. Just had a strike from about 25 yards out go inches wide of the post. If it was on target the keeper wouldn’t have got to it. Edit: just drew a free kick 5 yards outside the 18. Of course Schalke wastes it.
Weston is a lot more involved in the second half thankfully, but Schalke still looks like they could concede.
