Shit. I think this is the second time I've agreed with you in 2 days. I'm normally suspicious when I suddenly start to agree with someone. Are you making a pass at me?
1228332443385704454 is not a valid tweet id Bloomberg is socially liberal*, fiscally conservative. This quadrant should be named the Empty Quadrant, or the Pundit's Quadrant. *This usually doesn't just mean pro-choice and pro-marriage equality, it usually also means "not nostalgic for redlining and slave patrols." Whaddaya gonna do?
How do you know it is Sanders' supporters? How do you know it is NOT Russians/Chinese/Iranians doing the same thing the Russians did in 2016 - creating division in the Dem party. If you step back, it is the same thing.
The source for that chart. somethings from that study, this was published in June 2017. Part of their conclusion points to Sanders perhaps. https://www.voterstudygroup.org/publication/political-divisions-in-2016-and-beyond
It could be, Russian hackers probably want a Sanders - Trump race (with Gabbard as 3rd party) Chaos is what they want. Some Social media "Berniebros" May be Russian propaganda machine as superdave pointed out.
Again, that is national. And what should have been learned form 2016 is that national polls misrepresent.
I would assume a great number of them are Russains, et al. I would also gather than some of them are 4chan/8chan as well, and that likely means Russians.
Yeah, like how they decide what was the center of the scatter plot, the chart looks to be very crowded on the left and very empty on the right. They say they got the data from here, but I don't think (I did not find) how they decided what is the "middle". https://www.voterstudygroup.org/data Edit: the only thing I saw is this What the hack is the "traditional position"?
Indeed.. The far left side of the chart is crammed with blue dots, but there are no dots on the far right of the chart.. That would seem to indicate that the "center" isn't where it should be?
They do compare 2016 to 2012 later on, perhaps they centered the "center" at what ever the results were from the 2012 survey (I am just guessing). But that would indicate that the population has moved very left in economic matters and somewhat right on social issues since 2012. But perhaps I am just not understanding what the hell they are using as the center.
Well.. Given the person posting the graphs, they do have a vested interest in showing a majority of the US to the left economically.
Yeah, I get that that is why Yglesias would like this chart, but I do not know if he was part of the group that created the study. Here is a CATO with a video clip interview with some of the people that created the study, the interview is Trump voters focus https://www.cato.org/events/catoconnects-findings-democracy-fund-voter-study-group This is from the page of the group
Not gonna lie ... I'm tempted. $6000/month + benefits to work for Bloomberg in Maryland. https://boards.greenhouse.io/mikebl...OuALnzeATu3s2GnU_U4L7kQpvY8DoQoKXDmLm1-0h1xGU Of course I wouldn't intend to help him. The way his campaign throws money around, I wouldn't be surprised if they never notice me underperforming. I hung out with some Steyer staffers in NH, and they were not planning to vote Steyer and looked like they were doing the minimum. And that's the likable billionaire
She's the best on substance, but she's one of the worst with political instincts. The petty fights she picked with Pete and Bernie cost her. Made her look like a typical politician who wants to score points with scandals instead of staying laser focused on the issues, which is her strength. Also her constant embellishment of her biography. And finally her biggest weakness is that her voter base has become the stronghold of the wokest Dems and that's a recipe for disaster in November.
I think he’s a real person who is completely serious. I also happen to think that he made a typo when registering his user name. That second 9 was supposed to be a 3. At least that’s how his posts read.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Russians are in it, but unfortunately I know some of them personally and they are real people who genuinely care, but who in their naivety have become fanatical. A leader who defines the world in “us vs them” terms is dangerous, regardless of how repulsive or seductive their ideology may look to us.
It’s not the person, it’s the base support within one party vs the other and where it is located. If a Dem POTUS tries to consolidate power, he/she better find away to thoroughly rig elections. Because they’ll get completely crushed in midterms and lose the Senate and House. If a Republican were to do the same, they still stand a chance of keeping the Senate and not losing the House by as much. That + a conservative SC can still keep the executive power grab moving.
BTW here is the same group with a 2019 update. This is what they say about the bottom left quadrant. And why this is probably over represented in Big soccer So basically people running for office, and the people in the news we see are white college educates (highly) that like immigration and are economically conservative. But the bulk of America is not that. This part does seem backwards to me, I would have imagined it would have been the other way around. That to me reads as in against to Democrats in 2018 were from people that do not like Immigration but are more liberal on economics, while people that were put off by Trumps immigration talk but may have liked the tax cuts came back to the GOP. https://www.voterstudygroup.org/publication/opposing-forces
Germans believe in Magic Presidents with economic fairy dust that they use while dropping three-hamburger loads into gold toilets, while grunting loudly? Yeah I know not really, you are just trolling.
