Well, we’ve won our opening match of the final round 3-2. A good start but perhaps concerning? We were up 3-0 and the game managed to end 3-2. All of our goals came from long range range shots, which makes me wonder how well we played? This tends to be fools gold at times and we can’t rely on these type of goals to carry us forward. If we dominated, fine but other than that we need to play better especially giving up 2 goals that could’ve been prevented.

Good start , at least 3 points in the bag regardless. Lets hope thats not a sign of our typical choking mentallity. We lost in recent youth tournament by conceiding equalizer twice and ended up losing the shootout.

Brazil drew Colombia despite having unlimited Fergie's time. That should be some adventage for us.

Allister currently top scorer with 4 goals.

That is Mac Allister. He's developing quite nicely, I just hope that he can continue this upward trend.

In other news, Lo Celso had another fine showing, that is 3-4 in a row for him, and seems like he's a favorite for José and the Spurs fans absolutely love him. He's playing a bit more defensive but he is a workhorse. I am not sure where he'll fit into our system but it's going to be interesting. Qualifiers start in March, so Scaloni better be ready.

I hear ya, but hey— a win’s a win. The good news is that if we beat Colombia in the next match (as we previously did in the First Stage of the tournament), we’ll have our spot in the Olympics guaranteed without having to worry about the result of our final game vs Brazil. That 1-1 draw between Colombia and Brazil yesterday really worked wonders for us...

It would be terribly unjust if we don’t make it to Tokyo after accumulating 5 wins in 5 games so far in the qualifiers. Not really a fan of the tournament’s format, tbh...

If he is playing more defensively, I know exactly where he will fit. In LCM with Paredes and De Paul next to him.

Last Copa, it seemed Lo Celso was too weak defensively, and we benefited from seeing Acuña there.

Have to squeeze Palacios in there somewhere, but this is a good problem to have.

He’s not overly defensive but he’s turning into a box to box. Spurs fans on their forum, and on Twitter are singing nothing but praise. These are all comments from his showing v City.

He's going to be a wonderful Spurs player. Everything I love about supporting this club rolled into one little footballer that wears the number 18.

A pleasure watching him so effortlessly do what he does. Love his grit and artfulness also

Lo Celso was superb Today never wastes the ball and his use of it is superb. I think if we can get him and Ndombele up to speed Kane could benefit big style once fit

What impresses me is he can hold on to the ball under physical pressure.
He has stopped all that drama queen nonsense when he gets fouled as well.
I am really excited about him.
He doesn't volunteer for dead ball situations, though.

You don’t miss those backward and sideway passes? For me, at one time it was anybody but Biglia in the MF, with somebody else you didn’t know what you got but with Biglia you knew, 100% you were gonna gonna a horror show. Slow, couldn’t defend, couldn’t make a proper pass. Sigh..

Barca out from CDR early , so that means at least 3 less games for Messi prior to CA.

That's right, we qualified and won this bitch. Now the cherry on top will eliminate the brazucas.

The Olympic official channel appearently uploaded the 2008 final extended highlight in good quality.

I just remember aswell that the 2004 side coached by Bielsa went 17-0 in that tournament.

Looks like our boys celebrated a little too much and are losing 3-0 to the brazucas. A pity that we will let them qualify and we decided to play like ass against our biggest rivals. This is the lack of focus I don’t like. We should’ve gone for 7 wins in 7 matches. Hopefully this is a lesson for them and they’ll go to Tokyo aiming for gold.

Yea, obviously for Brazil its do or die, for us, it doesnt even matter mathematically since we're guarenteed to be on top. I dont like the attitude when a team has qualified and just treat the spare game as if its a waste of time. A team that on the brink of elimination usually has that extra determination. Even our team did that in 2010 & 2014 qualifier.

I believe we also lost to Uruguay in last game of 2006 and 2014 WC qualifiers even though we could have won those games if we really tried. Never like that kind of attitude. Just because we've qualified comfortably, a rival is a rival. At least now they'd know what's the Olympic KO stage would be like , playing against opponent that really give everything to win.

I actually like Chile attitude in 3rd place game recently, cause they're still going hard at us.

Agreed, we should never give a rival life, especially to those coconut merchants. As nice as it is to win this and qualify, it isn't a good precedent to lose to a rival.

Anyways... I just hope we can take a semi-strong side out there. I know the European teams won't let our players go and even the clubs at home will be hesitant, it is a continuous problem for every Olympics.

I don't know who the 3 over 23 players will be either. I hope they will be useful players that can contribute on the pitch rather than some motivational player.

Well , the kids should really try to press the club to release them for the Olympics tournaments, like Messi did back then. I think our Olympic sides in 2004 and 2008 were actually stronger than the senior side at the time:laugh:. If ADM doesnt get picked for CA, he'd probably there , maybe:whistling:.

In 2004 and 2008 , Italy and Brazil were bringing the likes of Cannavaro and Ronaldinho, although we thrashed them in semi.

Clubs are becoming more and more hesitant to allow players to go to the Olympics. I get it, the clubs are the ones cutting the checks but to deprive a player to go to the Olympics would be upsetting. I remember Messi basically strong-armed FCB to letting him go, FCB took it to court and Messi still basically told them to piss-off. In my opinion, if a player wants to really go, they'll go... what are they going to do throw them in a prison? Take them to court and try to sue them? Non-sense.

I remember Dybala was supposed to go to the Olympics last time around and that was the reason according to Tata he didn't call him to the CAC but Juve basically said nope. Tata hadn't consulted with Juve and just figured they'd let him.

P.S. And here comes @locoxriver to suggest that Fatso should be taken. Way ahead of you, pal... Nice try... We're trying to win gold here... and you know McDonald's serves the athletes' food in the Village, which is essentially all you can eat Big Mac's and fries...You know McDonald's would be in a world of trouble if Fatso did show up in Tokyo with a bib and a knife and fork.

Nice gif... btw, do you remember who scored the only goal in that match, which secured our spot in a WC semifinal for the first time since 1990? ;)

Yes, and I also remember the guy who made Argentina a laughing stock in every finals. He's always great when he didnt have time to think whether he'd choke or not.

Three 1on1's basically difference between failure, and possibly the greatest nt-side ever.

OMG this is painful, and so true. Those misses by Higuain and Messi in the WC final will haunt us for a long time. Sabella had that team playing so well (defensively). Too bad Di Maria was injured for the final or else I believe for sure we would have done it.

I think the worst miss in the 2014 was by Palacio. He had the easiest chance.
