it’s just good for soccer in this country to have young kids with flair getting venues to show off. this is supposed to be fun after all. is he even on a pro deal?

This kid should turn pro ASAP was looking like Iniesta out there with the cutback and croqueta. Should be called up for U20s too

Gallegos looked incredibly good tonight. Basically flawless in the first half but surrounded by poor teammates, so no real chances materialized. Had 1-2 sloppy moments in the second half but also got the goal and I'm struck by the completeness of his game -- good off-ball movement, strong on the ball, above-average first touch, works hard in the press, oozing with sauce. Embarrassed Ziegler, Bressan and Thiago Santos. Handled Reggie Cannon easily a couple times, though I woudn't say he *beat* him. Dribbled by a lot of people but also releases the ball when he should. Credit to @ussoccer97531 for being an early proponent of Gallegos. I'm stoked about him.

Who are you higher on Zleb, Ledezma or Gallegos?

I'm still higher on Ledezma but like you always say, he needs to hit the weight room.

That and his weak foot but both will happen eventually as he gets older.

I hope that some European scouts are aware of Gallegos.

Thanks, but I can’t take much credit. I knew nothing about this guy, saw a long highlight video of him that @ChuckMe92 retweeted, and it was clear he had a lot of ability.

Gallegos played 600 minutes in USL-C last year as a 17 year old.

Now 18. Definitely should be on some radars.

I heard one of the USSF scouts was in attendance to watch Gallegos last night so I wouldn't be shocked with a U20 call-up in March.

I mean, he was the best player on the field.

Gallegos turned 18 last year. If he's as good as advertised -- say, somewhere around the top 20-40 domestic 01s -- you gotta figure he'll have plenty of pro options here and elsewhere.

And since he’s still on academy contract and now 18...presumably he’s free to sign in Europe this summer?

what would it look like if an mls club decided they wanted to sign gallegos? small transfer fee to san antonio?

It's a good question. It's a bit curious, since he's old enough that he could've signed overseas already. Of course, he could also have turned pro with San Antonio by now...

I always find it interesting when league sites engage in contract speculation, but anyway:

There’s still plenty for the San Antonio native to prove when the regular season comes around, of course, and there’s also the question of whether SAFC will add him to the squad on a professional deal. Currently Gallegos is signed to a USL Academy contract and is committed to North Carolina State this fall after he graduates from high school in the spring.

He's not under contract, so I think he'd walk for free.

The biggest question is what MLS mechanism would you use? Not an HGP, not the draft.

I guess it would be like Julian Araujo where you'd have to engineer his acquisition in classic byzantine MLS style via the waiver draft?

Never understood why he didn't get more of a shot at OC.

I do like Indy being a place for YNT players to rehab their careers, though.

I agree that he should've been given more of a chance, but one thing that was very clear in the games I've seen of him in recent years was that he's an awful defensive player. When you play as a #6, thats not going to work.

I imagine we’ll see a lot of Ferri and George Acosta on the field together with Ft. Lauderdale.
