I kinda suspected that. It's definitely a great opportunity to get their feet wet, let them train, and give them some positive feedback. I suspect many clubs do this exact thing, too.
This depth chart of sorts just has a Nuggets feel to it. By that I mean, quality dependable depth that you can turn to and say "next man up" when rest, injuries, and suspensions occur. The kind of depth that can step into the lineup with few adjustments. The Nuggets have that. They've depended on that depth to pull off wins when they shouldn't. The only difference, they have a superstar in Murray. The Rapids don't have a "Murray". Although Murray has missed time and the Nuggets barely missed a beat. Anyways.... really like the feel of this Rapids team. It's deep, talented, and most importantly there is leadership in Fraser. Great mix of vets and youngsters. I still think we need someone to put us over the edge in the ultra competitive Western Conference but the foundation is there for a solid playoff team. I think we are going surprise people especially those snobby east coast media and fans.
Yeah, I completely agree. We do have pretty good depth everywhere. I mean, we're talking about signing players to be a 3rd stringer....instead of the usual "who's going to be the starter let alone the backup". That said, I also don't necessarily mind a team not having a "superstar." But only in the sense that you have the type of team build that we currently have. Honestly, a "superstar" can sometimes hurt the team. Look at the LA Gals with their Zlatan time. Sure, he scored a lot of goals. But they also allowed a TON of goals and never really did anything. If as a team you're putting all the weight on one or two players, you're opening yourself up to a myriad of potential issues - especially if that one player doesn't work out. Although, I also wouldn't complain about having a superstar on the Rapids either . I just don't think it's necessary right now with our current team for 2020.
Jokic is the best player on the Nuggets by a fair margin. Murray's still about potential. Between poor defense and hot and cold shooting, he was useless every other night in last year's playoffs. If Porter can stay healthy (big if), he'll probably end up the 2nd best player on the Nuggets.
Ha! I know. I know. I know Jokic is the best. But for this Kentucky grad it's a hard for me not to label the former Wildcat, Murray the biggest superstar I love them both. The Nuggets essentially have two superstars and in the NBA... you need two to compete for titles.
Match center for today’s game against New England if you wanna follow along: https://www.coloradorapids.com/post/2020/02/12/matchcenter-colorado-rapids-preseason-game-4 Starting XI Also, the report is: So based on the lineup and the write up it looks like it’ll be another “fitness test”/“exercise of preseason training concepts” - which isn’t a bad thing.
Just made a load of changes: Irwin, Keegan Rosenberry, Lalas Abubakar, Drew Moor, Sam Vines, Younes Namli, Jack Price, Kellyn Acosta, Sam Nicholson, Kei Kamara, Nicolas Benezet. I get the feeling this is the intended line up for DC
Eh, I doubt Moor stars over Trusty, unless there's some injury that's keeping Trusty from full fitness or something.
Glad to know as well as this preseason is going we can still have a #ThatsSoRapids moment. SMH 1227694908229578752 is not a valid tweet id
Still not bothered by scores but did have a flash back to last year when it went 3-0 74' - SUBSTITUTION - After receiving a hit to face, Benezet is replaced by Lewis. 90' - FINAL - Colorado Rapids 1 | New England Revolution 3
If they won't be on TV, will we still get Altitude radio commentary? Rapids taking us back to the 1960's.
Dude's got good footwork. Also, looks like he was trying to make some quick 1 look and no look passes. Methinks after some time working together, him and Kamara are going to be linking up....a lot. Last year we had a total 58 goals and 46 assists, so there's going to plenty to share around. I think Kamara scores a team leading 15 goals this year. Rubio, Lewis, and Benezet all score at least 7. I also think Price hits another 8+ assists. For my bolder prediction, I'm definitely feeling that Namli finishes either at or near 10g/10a. Shinyashiki's numbers drop this year as well I believe, simply because he won't see the field as much (unless for injury replacement). Too much money spent on players in his position. But I think Shinyashiki also becomes a better player this year too - just that his overall goals/assists goes down a little (last year he had 7g/3a in 31 games, and 1670 minutes.)
I hope Shin gets enough playing time to improve again this year as well as showcase his talents/potential. If he isn't a starter for us this year, it would be beneficial to him to move where that might be possible (nice for him, but would be a bummer for us). I love seeing him play, but at so early in his career I'd like to see him bet the best opportunities.
I get your point but after last few seasons I only want to see the players that give us the best chance to win on the field each game. When we reach the 80-90 point total this season maybe I will relent.
There's seldom such a thing as too much talent. My hope is that maybe, just maybe, the Rapids will have enough depth to take the Open Cup seriously this year.
For sure. I only expect to see Shinyashiki on the pitch when he’s the right choice at the right time. Given the current roster make up, I would expect that to be to cover for injury/recovery of other players, and a 60th-minute (or so) super sub.
I guess it belongs here since he's played in preseason........ Darren Yapi was named to the latest roster and newest cycle for the US U17's.
They list him as a forward to, I would of thought Abraham Rodriguez (GK- Switchbacks) would of gotten a look but checking out last few U-17 rosters he hasn't been called in (other GK's are also birth year 2002).
I wonder if that's because of his height? His listed at 5'9" - yes, I know that's close to Rimando, but I would bet there are coaches who see that as a red flag.
