I have a feeling it will, at least the games not involving MLS teams...otherwise I feel like they would have mentioned the channel lineup for the CCL since it's coming back on in three weeks (really hoping they at least throw all the games on FS2 though).
Yes. FSP is like $20/month on top of your existing cable bill for just that channel. FS2 is usually included on higher tier cable packages.
The upcoming Friday night women's qualifiers have already been announced for Fox Soccer Plus. I'm sure that at least some of the CCL will be on there.
Wonderful. I'd rather Yahoo have kept the rights if they're going to shuttle matches off to FSP. Hopefully MLS teams get on FS2, at least.
I don't even understand why they keep Fox Soccer Plus active. They have almost no live games to put on there anymore...who's paying $15 a month for it at this point?
FWIW, they've allowed people with FS1 to watch the matches and they joined the game last night in progress on FS1. This is all on CONCACAF waiting until a couple days before Olympic Qualifying to find a television deal in the US.
That pissed me off! They showed AFL matches all year long on fox sports 2 including most playoff matches and then they bury the grand final on fox sports plus. I still don’t know if Richmond or Sydney won.
Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Round of 16 venue confirmed.READ ⬇️https://t.co/rQSnzGeLUJ— New York City FC (@newyorkcityfc) February 7, 2020
I think NYC FC will find that the Red Bulls will act as a class organization allowing them to host their game in Red Bull Arena. It;s a good place--there's not a bad seat in the house and the pitch is always kept immaculate. I get that many fans feel weird because of the rivalry, but really it's not so bad.
I looked ahead in my directv listings and was happy to see the CCL matches appear on TUDNHD starting on 2/18. I was also surprised and elated to see that the LA Galaxy are apparently taking on Leon that night.
It's now MetLife Stadium, it's much bigger than necessary, and it would probably be expensive to rent. I might propose MetLife Stadium for a Semifinal or Final against a Liga MX club, but I don't know why it would be preferable to Red Bull Arena for the Round of 16 other than never wanting to host at your rival's stadium. I also don't know if Yankee Stadium is unavailable or if Concacaf doesn't want CCL games there. The Yankees don't need Yankee Stadium during the Round of 16 or Quarterfinals, and I wouldn't expect Yankee Stadium to host other events in cold weather given that it doesn't have a roof.
I looked ahead on mine for FS2, and it looks like 6 of the 8 first-leg matches will be shown there. The two that won't are Motagua - Atlanta (2/18), which Fotmob has listed on Fox Soccer Plus, and Alianza - Tigres (2/19), which I assume will be the same.
FS2 is the best possible outcome for English-language broadcasts. No way were these ever going to be on regular Fox or FS1.
Annual, mandatory "gap is closing" piece on mlssoccer.com https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...er-difference-between-liga-mx-and-mls-closing
Yeah, it's like when the Revs start their season ticket renewal drive by floating a story where they are "actively seeking" a site somewhere in the "urban core" for their brand-new Brigadoon Rainbow Unicorn Stadium.
