Eh I just don’t know that it’s worth it. Yea 10 mill is nothing but why not put an academy kid there if he isn’t being brought in as a starter. Azpi will be moving to back up RB/LB. We can sell Alonso and Emerson (tho he flashed well to start the year) but let’s go out and get a top class player at LB.
Who though? I have no realistic suggestions but have not seen Robinson that much that I recall to have an opinion either way, hopefully the board defers to or gives Lamp plenty of input on who he wants but have seen Chilwell enough to be of the opinion that he would be at best the 3rd best defender at that position on our team despite what he can do attacking and his pace and would be a huge waste of cash for a player who can not do the job against the best players and teams.
man, i'd throw out Henderson at Sheffield as a GK prospect. kid is pretty darn good from what i've seen as i've started to pay more attention.
Keeping alive the best roomers and the best targets for the summer season. . . André Onana is a Cameroonian professional footballer who plays in goal for Dutch club Ajax. . . .Timo Werner is a German professional footballer who plays as a striker for RB Leipzig. . . . Jadon Malik Sancho is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and the England national team. . . David Olatukunbo Alaba is a versatile Austrian professional footballer who plays as a left back for German club Bayern Munich and the Austria national team.
Roomers of the day. February 12th roomers. Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are all interested in signing Wigan left-back Antonee Robinson - 22 year old American. Chelsea are winning the race for Hartlepool's England youth goalkeeper Brad Young [17] Brazil midfielder Philippe Coutinho, 27, has been told he can leave Barcelona for a cut-price £77m this summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham and former club Liverpool all interested.
NOT February 12th :0) Coutinho - 27 - at that price, might be worth it. We need players with a little experience - we have the youngsters, we have an eye on the future, but these young players need to see players day-in-day-out in training that they can learn some tricks from. Coutinho has the talent, he's not ancient and he has experience of playing in our vigorous league. He could be the central midfield creative player we are looking for?
We're signing Ziyech, per Freek Jansen, who is apparently a very reliable guy.
He is a fantastic player, in my opinion. Maybe a little lacking on the defense, but perhaps that can be remedied. But our midfield is stuck with players who don't/can't/won't score or even get shots on target. Ziyech could do that and he is quite a servicer of the ball as well. 27 in March, though.
He's exactly the type we need. I'm all about the youth revolution but we need to still improve the squad. Ziyech does just that. Pedro doesn't check the boxes anymore and Willian, while effective, doesn't provide enough in the final third. Hopefully Ziyech can do that. My hope is this doesn't mean we aren't making a play for Sancho.
I’m a little weary of how he will translate to the EPL. I’m not concerned with age. We need a few seasoned pro’s to balance the youth revolution.
If this goes through, I think it is going to be a very very good transfer for Chelsea. There are some Ajax talents that I have my doubts about in reference to their next step, but with Ziyech I really believe he is ready. I have a sneaking feeling that Ziyech is going to be an absolute revelation with Chelsea. And the 45million price tag is less than would normally be requested for a player like him, out of appreciate for his services to Ajax. Also perhaps good to note, there has in the past been a lot of talk about Ziyech's nonchalance and lack of defensive contribution (a bit like the crusade against Ozil), but this has really changed in his last years in Ajax. He plays a huge role in the high-pressure Ajax system and really makes a lot of defensive miles every game. As far as attacking players go, he definitely does his part defensively. There are also rumors here that you guys are looking to sign the Ajax keeper Onana. If that also happens then you guys have signed in my opinion the two best Ajax players by far. Another great signing that would be for you guys. Obviously as an Ajax fan I hope these transfers don't happen, but at the same time I recognize that both players have stayed at Ajax out of loyalty much longer than they needed to. For that reason most people here can appreciate the fact that both players deserve a transfer to a top league. It is inevitable that both will leave this summer.
Guys, you know Ziyech isn't a winger like Sancho is, right? He's a midfielder who at times roams into the wide areas, but he's not a winger.
Lampard's first signing is a solid one. 40m euros (£33.3m) - potentially rising to 44m euros (£36.6m) A solid professional and a player we know well from the Chelsea-Ajax games. He also can play in the middle - when playing as a right winger and the ball is coming from the left flank, he likes to drift into central positions just behind the striker. He is an excellent Pedro replacement. In short? The Premier League isn't ready for the Ziyech/Reece overlapping combos.
Looks like all that remains to be done is agree on personal terms with Ziyech. This will be a good addition to your team and a much better use of money than chasing after Coutinho. Ziyech is super creative and has great field vision. Ajax play high pressure and Ziyech works very hard to get the ball back after turnovers. The only criticism that I have is that he doesn't pass the ball quickly enough as a double team situation appears. If Lampard can utilize his free movement type of play on offense, Chelsea may prove even more dangerous as Ziyech will always find an open man to pass to deep in the offensive zone.
Sancho is looking great and getting better, but for the insane money it would take I'd rather see us spend the money on a pure top class striker (and perhaps a more versatile across, the front striker), and a top class truly 2 way left back, (or Ashley Cole cloning project with a better crossing dna tweak), if for no other reason than I have not the patience to listen to all the crap here and around town and US Media if he usurps playing time from Pul, ironically likely from some begging to sign Sancho.
The way things are going now, the ones that need to be worried are named CHO, Willian and Pedro if Sancho does become a reality. I also think a striker is a given in the summer regardless of signing Sancho.
CHO is 18, there is much more to come from him. I think Willian and Pedro are out and Boga and Sancho are in this summer. We get £55m from Morata. Think one if not both of Emerson and Alonso are gone. I also think it's a possibility Jorginho is off in the summer. That's a lot of transfer funds on top of the rumored £150m we were getting.
Pedro I assume is gone, replaced by the Ajax guy, likely to start with Tammy, leaving 1-2 spots counting a #10 spot for Ziyech or Pul in the offering, though the way we play and press, sill think a purer mf has an edge for that 4th more front role. CHO, funny last year most hear and in the press said he would not be the same likely all this year, and now he gets crap for not yet immediately being a Hazard/Ronoldo cross in their prime, I expect better and onward next year. Willian I think, the Board will eff it up, and people will not recognize how valuable he is in effort, work ethic and speed 2 ways til he is gone, but I don't expect he will be an everyday 1st name starter next season anyway. Pul once healthy if he carries on like he left off I do expect and want to be a starter but I do not see him, like some dream, of playing in the middle full time, against better sides though he puts in the effort both ways, just not physical or durable enough to be the top of the press, and better in a free role roaming off a wide spot, as I see Ziyech also. Now mind you I will not complain or mind having Sancho play and start for us but at 115 million, he will start, Tammy will start, Ziyech, Pul and CHO, perhaps Willlian still, will be a lot of spent money and weekly wages, fighting mostly for 1 spot, especially against the best and dangerous sides, sometimes for a more central 2nd #10 middle spot, but Mount and RLC next season more likely to get the nod at acm behind a front 3, so some unhappy and odd-man out players in the end Now if we add Sancho at 110-120 million and a wage scale busting 200k plus a week, more unhappy players, and after spending 150 million on Ziyech and Sancho are we really going to go Real Madrid/PSG and spend another 150+ million on another top class striker and Left Back? We desperately need a pure striker to compliment, challenge and back-up Tammy, that is going to cost a huge chunk, even more desperately need a top class 2 way LB, that will cost a huge chunk. Accomplish that first, then if Roman wants to spend another 120 million and lose Willian, credit to him,, but fill desperate needs first as the top priority
Ziyech a good signing but not directly replacing Pedro or Willian as those guys are wingers and Ziyech is not a winger.
