Let them fight... "In effect, it will come down to Inter Milan convincing the USPTO that consumers think of Inter Milan when they hear the term Inter." https://t.co/gQ9UmGOlCa— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) February 10, 2020
When I say United I first think of Manchester, even over my own local team. Plus there are dozens of Uniteds around the globe. I don't think that hurts ManU's business model. In fact it might even help because folks know other teams are openly mimicking the big alpha. Inter should take the same approach. Says I, anyway.
Austin has gotten their inaugural jersey sponsor, Yeti Coolers. https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com...Marketing-and-Sponsorship/Austin-FC-Yeti.aspx
Any thoughts on how Yeti could afford the sponsorship? https://www.kxan.com/news/business/yeti-responds-to-recent-layoffs-at-south-austin-facility/amp/
By taking money out of their marketing budget? They are also claiming it is part of their annual reduction in seasonal workers and it looks like market analysts are expecting them to announce increased earnings next week. So.. not all layoffs are related to a company not having enough money.
I said this before, but to soccer fans "Inter" is the team in Milan (where as "Milan" is the other team in Milan). I have no issue with Miami calling themselves "Internacional Miami" or something like that (which we can all abbreviate to "Inter") but "Inter" is a nickname / brand for specific team that already exists.
They could just as easily call themselves "CF Miami". Especially since "CF" would just as easily stand for "Corpse of Fusion."
Favorite twitter find of the day, Birmingham City fans have discovered Birmingham Legion and are now trolling Memphis: Update on Birmingham City (in England) supporters finding out about Birmingham Legion in USL..They’ve now taken to finding out that their rivals are Memphis 901 and trolling their twitter. pic.twitter.com/ypIFomBBov— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) February 10, 2020
They are Internacional Miami officially with their nickname being Inter Miami. But lets be honest, the only reason that Inter Milan gives a crab is because they think that Miami might cut into some of their money that they can collect over here. There is a reason they don't care that International Turku calls themselves Inter Turku, or that there is an Inter Zapresic in Croatia, or Fussballclub International Leipzig calls themselves Inter Leipzig, or that Inter Baku existed for years. This is purely because they are afraid they won't be able to capitalize as much on their name in America.
Glad that Birmingham City fans finally have a club from a big city to support. Hey, even their city council knows who the real Birmingham is.... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ncourage-civic-pride--Birmingham-Alabama.html
Very true. Only reason they care is because it is in the US. They sure don't care about other teams that also use the "Inter" name.
Well, of course. I mean, I think that's the complaint. For example, there are lots of "Uniteds", but if you refer simply to "United", people will assume you mean Manchester United. That is brand capital the club has built up over decades with global relevance. The same is true of Inter; it's brand is a globally recognized asset (at least within the soccer community) which David Beckham is trying to borrow a tiny slice of to compete in the same space.
