Did you ever follow up on this? What was the injury? Has there been any official mention?

He was def limping for 10-20 min.
Most likely too early brought in from injury where dumb usa fans where doing anime gifs instead of realzing how dangerous it was.

Thanks. His injured shoulder seemed to be bothering him at the end of his first game back, so I'm glad it wasn't related to that. A leg injury seems unrelated and not nearly as concerning if he didn't need to come off.

Ham bone’s connected to the turkey bone so clearly the leg bone’s connected to the shoulder bone

    Halftime 0-0

this might come as a complete shock, but Schalke are incredibly boring and watching them play is still a chore. Wagner is better than Tedesco but they lack a few quality attackers still.
Weston has been... fine. A few giveaways a few good defensive actions. A regular Weston performance tbf

Agreed. Our boy is a worker bee. He occasionally gets forward and he is still tough on defense, but the team as a whole is missing something. Off track, but we have a few YA's playing but no game thread? Must be so common place these days. "Familiarity breeds contempt"

Should’ve just had an assist. A chest down in the box and raman hit the cross bar

He's been really good in the second half. Right sided CM, all over the place. Had a couple of nice through balls to open up attacks to go with that sweet chest down to Raman that he missed.

Weston looks really good in this game obviously against less than stellar opposition. He makes generally the right decisions with the ball. I also like his control with his headers. He seems to be able to control the ball well enough to pick out a teammate with his head. That’s one of the things that has driven me crazy over the years watching Americans play. They never seem to be able to control with precision where defensive headers end up.

McBride was pretty famous in the EPL for his head control. Who are you thinking of?

good match by Weston - not great - not poor.

Wagner needs to get that squad figured out ... they just look disconnected in general going forward ... players not reading each other ...

Yeah, said this before but Schalke is the best bad team in the Bund right now.

Astounding how they scrape out results despite looking clueless much of the time.

They have a good attack this year which they have not had in the past. I am thinking of Rahman, Kutucu, Grigovitch. Hate to say it but they need a better midfielder than McKennie who sends Raman way wide on a great chance today in the 1-1 with Paderobrn. Raman remonstrated to (I think) McKennie after the play.

My advice to Wagner: You've got Harit who can run thru mid, now you have to add a player who can pass thru mid like, say, Brandt or Goretzka, etc.

I actually called the goal by Kutucu the minute it reached his feet in the box. That guy can finish. You can tell Wagner is a good coach because he uses him as a sub.

Wagner should be on the short list for USMNT manager for 2026 cycle. He is very organized.

Ummm, not sure how far "in the past" you're talking about, but I'm not sure their attack is "good" (they are 8th in Bund for GF) save compared to last season's debacle. (I mean, they're scoring 1.5 gpg this season. Two years ago they ended at like 1.8 gpg. The two seasons before that were more in line with this year's output.)

I'm mixed on Wagner. On the one hand, Schalke has looked to lack top-Bundesliga talent overall this season, but he has kept them reasonably high on the table. That said, it seems some of them looking like they lack talent probably goes to him, as on paper (and in moments) there are a number of 06 players who have shown they can play.

Feels like this team could play more cohesive, successful soccer, but I've yet to see much of it on the field.

2 years ago they had Goretzka and Meyer in mid, right? (I'm not sure but I think that is the year you are referring to?)

I'm comparing this year's attack to last year's attack, not 2 years ago.

I don't think Harit is the proper fit for 06. Sorry. Not to say he is not a good player. But at this time they need someone who can continue the break when it is on. He is too quick to pull it back and look to set up again. Perhaps the coach can see that also and work on it with him. He is good, just has to work on his aggression a little. As for our boy, again he is a hard worker. I think he is still getting used to playing the same position, midfield, consistently. He has been all over the place the last 2 years and has yet to settle in to a job. His defensive qualities would have him in the middle of the park next to or behind an attacking midfielder, but then again, his adventurous runs forward may work some where higher up. Hopefully they get some players back or pick up some and let WM find his place.
