Howard officially announced as "Sporting Director" for Memphis 901 FC today. He remarked on bringing James Roeling with him from Colorado to be his "Assistant Sporting Director".

I think it's fair to say every Rapids fan that has been around long enough to remember the day we traded Kyle still suffers some form of PTSD seeing him in that jersey.

^Some nice reading if you're wanting to reopening old wounds about the trade that sent Kyle playing on the wrong side of the Rockies.

It's crazy to think how the Rapids history might have been different if we hadn't been on the wrong side of so many various trades. How many former Rapids have gone on to have great success with other teams....

 

This one still burns me. My sister-in-law keeps bringing it up having grown up with Kyle. As much as I want to be mad at him, I can't blame him for our F-up and him wanting to do well where he ended up.

But crap you have made my day sour after this reminder!

 

I was thinking about this the other night. Over our 25 year history there are a lot, but how many have had successful careers after leaving the Rapids in say, the last 10 years? It seems like we've somewhat reversed the trend of the first 15 years.

 

Is that by virtue of the club actually getting better? Or is that by virtue of signing a lot of subpar guys that were never really good enough to be capable of amounting to anything?

No, that Tim Hinchey down at USA Gymnastics. One championship would be Jeff Plush (the Rapids and he inherits Team Schuster, the current Olympic gold-medal holders).

 

Does Denver still have a place to Curl? I remember someone mentioning that a place had opened in Denver area.

 

The Denver Curling Center is just south of Colorado Mills (technically in Golden).
