Just like Valverde, two of the same kind. Sadly one with more power. Socios are probably being paid not to turn against him. Messi carried the team too long, I hope he forced a necessary change or EL is eventually on the cards.
From what I understood, Messi wasn't defending Valverde, he was simply expressing that the board should take responsibility for their decision of sacking Valverde. Abidal screwed up there, he is part of the board and recommended to sack Valverde. Why did he feel like he needed to bring the players into it? If he feels some players were slack and dropped their standards under Valverde and that led to his sacking then go talk to them personally and discuss it with the squad and not say it in the newspapers and make the players look bad.
I agree with you but I'm glad Abidal messed up for the reason that a melt down is needed to finally change this rotten board. I really hope that it will spill over to Bartomeu as well.
Yes, thanks for the edit, that was my understanding and happy to see it confirmed. the downside, as I see it, is that he won't be likely to be tossed before then since his era already ends in 16 months (though I suppose if Messi actually opted out this summer all bets are off).
Where’s the guy who bitches at me for quoting British press headlines He’s gonna love this Barcelona and Real Madrid 'join Manchester United in pursuit of Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish' https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...id-join-Man-United-pursuit-Jack-Grealish.html Enjoy !!
I don’t think Pep is gonna extend his contract. If Pep really loves Barca then he should do something about this
So ... apart from that fuk up, a couple of other points from Abidal: - Club didn't make an offer for Xavi. - And didn't make an offer for Bakambu. Sounds like his agent played a trick to put him on the plane to pressure the club. Apparently Abidal is the reason we didn't make any signings in this window. He didn't want the club making a desperate signing and messing up again. Last year the club signed Boateng and that was worthless. Abidal is not wrong here. Also apparently Rodrygo deal was lined up but Valencia increased the price in the last minute.
Well, not that I was the guy, but here, dailymaily mentions Barca in title, and that's it. Like, it doesn't get much more iffy than that. Some paper like Sun could just as easily say stuff like "Real Madrid joins the race for Adama Traore".
Yeah, they report that to generate clicks/money, not because they have info on Messi considering that. (Not that it it's totally unimaginable that Messi would quit the club before retiring)
Sometimes in cases bit like this, a club makes an unofficial offer, like, talk about what they would be willing to offer, but if the answer is no, an official offer is not made. So both kinda speak the truth, depending on how you see it. *Not sure it was the case in this case, though. Maybe it was.
To me that just sounds like the usual shit that happens when a team is not winning. Nothing happened that warrants anyone to even open their big, uneducated mouth. We kept Valverde while we were winning, then fired him when things were going downhill. Blame goes to people at every level - Board, managers, players. Just easier to fire 1 guy instead of 10.
The rumor is Abidal wasn't too happy with the number of free days Valverde was giving the team. We've seen this story before. And Messi, Pique, Suarez were among the ones advocating for those free days. MAtS did make some criticisms about the team play not long ago. So I wouldn't be surprised.
