Bradley's got many more stunning strikes than some of those... I think the initial point was talking about goals scored in high-level European leagues/competitions.

But those are two important US goals.

I guess we had different issues. I didn't think the size thing mattered, because his technical ability on the ball was damn good. We've had big guys w/sketchy touch, Gio was never that. My concern, and I think that of others, was he was a classic Chucker (in Basketball terms) or ball hog (in soccer terms), and just really was fixated on beating his guy and scoring. I never really saw him show that vision for the best play, he just always seemed to see himself as the best option. Watching the all touches video was the first time I saw him consistently just making the right play/decision over and over and over again, instead of just trying to go GOAT on every touch. I should add that "what the hell is his position (which connected to my other ball hog concern) has also been a bit of a worry since if he can't distribute at all, he can't play centrally.

Watching him, I'm still totally confused about whether he should play on a wing, or as a Forward. Otoh, it's damn exciting to imagine a three pronged attack with Gio and Weah on either wing, and Pulisic centrally while we wait with baited breath for Sargent to develop. Or Siebatcheu or somebody....

Gio is different...in that he's a better dribbler. You just described why.

Quietly, but this has been a very good Tuesday for our guys: Holmes scored & Derby is through, Yedlin played well and N'castle is through, Reading without Miazga but through, Gio scored a beautiful goal, Sargent's Bremen is through, Wes's Schalke is through, so is Morales and his club.

The only shame is that Leipzig couldn't make it without Adams, but Chandler played 10 minutes to help Frankfurt go through.

That shot reminded me of Dembele at BVB. That's the difference between an excellent prospect (Pulisic) and a world class one (Gio/Dembele) imo.

Gio's looking special. In a couple more years, he'll be so good these threads will just harp on the two shots he missed instead of getting excited over a single measly goal.

I liked the way he came back for the ball at the very end of the game and lofted a very good ball to the opposing 18 from deep. He looks a lot like a playmaker + scorer. I would not put him on the wing unless he develops differently. He's only 17 - he will be 18 in November

There's no way you put him on the wing given what he's shown so far. He looks like a natural center of the park playmaker and unlike Pulisic he's sturdy enough to take on the brunt of the physical play and hold up for a game and season there.

Certainly on the USMNT there is nobody in his mold that should start over him as an attacking oriented central mid. Him and Weston should make a helluva partnership. I'm drooling.

    Dont forget boyds goal!!!!

    Benniy not in there.
In terms of class (donovans was a touch in)
    Dempsey
    Boyd
    Gio

I guess you can measure it best if the goal keeper can even react...

I HATE to turn this into a Puli thread...but he's the best player in the attack of a super club. At 21. That is absolutely world class potential

He had a world class goal and a very good half. His previous game was very bad.

Lets try not to be too american hype and just enjoy or suffer a game at a time.

    Btw mckennie injured.

Of course his Dad could teach him how to do hit that shot. Claudio was very skilled. He just wasn’t quick enough to create the time and space to hit it at the highest levels.
