Feel sorry for him. He looked like Conte in his presser. He has been saying the squad is not good enough and nothing gets done. The players' morale would have been affected as well and he might have issues motivating players who he clearly thinks shouldn't be here. Welcome to Chelsea transfer board Frank
Some moves of note (none of them ours): Piatek, a player lots of Chelsea tweeter fans were creaming themselves over, moves from Milan to Hertha. Rodriguez from AC Milan to PSV Antonee Robinson (USA) to AC Milan Emre Can to Dortmund in perm. deal Arsenal adds some left back depth with Soares loan Sheffield get some attacking help with Zivkovic. Yannick Carrasco back to Atletico Madrid Rose to Newcastle Rojo to Estudientes on loan Mari to Arsenal Ben Arfa (free agent!) to Vallodolid Yoshida from Soton to Sampdoria
Wasteful. Fighting to appeal a ban all year to only result in capturing the signature of a 16yo is a bit laughable. Speaks volumes on how easily content the board can be when shown glimpses of success on the pitch.
Did we want any of these players...? There's this take. There's also the other take which we openly pursued several options, none of whom apparently wanted to be our emergency January signing or who's clubs were ever going to let them go. My one criticism would be the lack of creativity a club with such vast resources can exhibit at times. There are surely other options outside of all of the obvious ones we limit ourselves to.
Emergency is not how I would classify it. We had an entire summer window to establish relationships and set ourselves up for the January window. To me it appears the scouting department took the ban as an extended vacation and that's why we have no outside of the box options.
Lots wanted Piatek. Outside of that, nah. Just posting some movement of note. Bruno Fernandes is a hell of a player for United.
January is obviously a tough window for Chelsea quality strikers and left backs, though I never got the feel we were seriously making a real effort Still think Ake for the price was worth the punt, both to see as a cb option for long run but also as a short term defensive help left back, with Pul, Wil or CHO ahead of him to attack the left and at worst we would not lose and likely make money off him in the summer if he did not work out as a cb option. Surely there was a striker worth a punt for short term hoping for long term, who we would not lose money on in long run or could loan, as Bats proven not to help really and Giroud not really right for Lamps system nor does he want to be here. That said still think Giroud can be a help against parked buses in last 30 - 40 minutes, (with Tammy when healthy), when we slowly pass it around and dick around the opposition box til we ******** up on defense. More a little bit more old school nothing but crosses and some long ball for the last third of those matches might be in order though Giroud is slick and clever inter-playing in boxes and in those matches his pace, range and pressing far less of an issue.Probably my biggest complaint with Supah has been the non-use of Giroud in such matches. Also don't get why we take gaffer support vacations, with Jose in his first third year, Conti summer and winter of his second year and now Lamp when a couple key shrewd moves might really help and then spend huge on 40 million each dross by the dozen, and huge on old, shit and or questionable strikers, under other gaffers.
'Arry Rednap, from Sky Sports, with my favorite line of day: "REDKNAPP ON BRUNO FERNANDES... "What you have to remember is, right now United have an amazing record of making good players turn into bad ones.""
I am pleased that we have not repeated the mistakes of previous Windows by buying any old dross when we don't get our first choice. However, we should have realistic backup plans so that we can still add quality to the squad. I just hope that they have been doing the groundwork for the summer.
Glad we didnt pay top prices for middling quality. Slightly disappointed lamptey left on a permanent deal rather than a loan but, as has been mentioned, maybe a first refusal for the future. If OG ends up getting minutes or wouldn't be a disaster. Would be a consistent option at least.
I mean, yeah, I’m glad we didn’t overpay for something we don’t want. [emoji2369] I am disappointed we didn’t do ANYTHING. The world is full of footballers. We couldn’t find anyone who could help? Our transfer game has always been the most disappointing thing about being a Chelsea fan (for me).

Willian reportedly about to commit now to Barca on free for summer, though still begging to stay, with Gaffer still begging for him to stay. Don't get why we don't give him his two years, even if Sancho comes in and he is not viewed as a starter, with Pedro gone too it will cost a fortune, more than his contract plus new wages for new players to replace him and his experience. And be another lack of support dagger in back of Lamp. Ok I will put a rest to this after this cameo New unfounded conspiracy theory, I am beginning to fear with the lack of Lamp support the Board are using him to get thru this year before they hire another fancy continental and buy more Baka's...
Talk is Willian wants 3 years. He also is notorious for pouting. I don’t think he would take well to a bench role next year.
If you're in the camp that thinks we need to upgrade at keeper (I'm not obvs), who would y'all be after? I dont think there's anyone in the Prem who I'd say is available and that much of an upgrade to Kepa. If we look outside, I think Andre Onana (Ajax) would be a fine choice. Not sure Ajax would enjoy us going after multiple targets of theirs, but they'll be happy for the money to pump back into their system. It's what they do. (By other targets, I meant Ziyech, who we were rumored to be after and I'd be happy to have.)
I think this is the problem. Not sure who we should go after. Onana seems like an obvious choice. But beyond him, Areola from PSG? I have no idea.
I don't want to replace Kepa. Sure he has had his issues but he is a decent keeper. He did fine under Sarri. The defense has hung him out to dry on numerous occasions. Lampard needs to work on the defense as a whole.
I'm totally with you. Just highlighting the difficulty in finding what would be considered an upgrade. Willy will be gone next season, too, so we've got the backup to think about as well.
I think if Nick Pope is interested we pay him and go that direction. In terms of Kepa, I'd rather we keep him. I know the statistics show he's been bad, and that's pretty telling, but we definitely turn it off defensively a few times a match and that seems to almost always cost us.
We'd also be selling Kepa at a loss, which is not our MO, either. This guy unseated DeGea for Spain like, a few months ago. He's a good keeper. Again, I wish the same amount of print was dedicated to field players gaffes.
I respect Lamps' resolve in all of his decisions which amount to "none of you are safe if you aren't earning your place." Not that I agree with how it goes down at times but he does lay down the law.
André Onana is a perfect option. We buy him and keep Kepa and see which one makes the grade next season. Onana could be had for as little as 30 million quid apparently. So it really is a no-brainer. Competition for the first team has to be strong.
