Stronger USNT? I don't think you can make that assumption. MLS is stronger now than it's ever been, yet the USNT is at its worst point in decades. MLS can only become strong on the backs of foreign players who will take minutes away from young US players. Regardless, the Mexican NT would be largely unaffected by all that. There is some merit to the CCL argument, but I don't see it completely flipping as you seem to be suggesting. MLS will still have salary caps on the big teams in order to keep the small teams competitive. The big spenders in Liga MX will still be competitive. It will just mean MLS wins some, Liga MX wins some. Which honestly would make the tournament far more compelling.
