I'm certainly going to be upset that we did it without Wil, and Pipa (also hoping he doesn't sign on with another MLS team, don't want to see him playing against us either - but he's not Trapp either, so it's a little easier to stomach).

Because you won't convince me that we couldn't have done it with him if we could do it without him.

My team? Heynckes, ter Stegen, Netzer (all born in Moenchengladbach)--not all by choice.

Apparently not, because if you're saying Artur is, then you're crazy. Artur can't pass, terrible with the ball at his feet, slow... He's no ball winning mid.

I wonder how close they are to closing on a guy for the international spot. Also I wonder if Artur is back to pre-injury Artur.

I will answer for 97.33% of everyone - We Want Cups!!! I really don;t care where players are from. I don't care how long they've been with the team. I care about W's & Ls & Ts. If we have local boy who helps in that department, GREAT. If we don't, who cares? If we have to sell the local kid to have special spot on roster or money to buy another player that helps us win, do it! Hopefully we get max value every time, but reality is we won't sometimes. I just ask that if we miss, they do whatever it takes to make a better decision the next time.

I think this role will fit Artur better. Artur is physical, and can win the ball. Is he Chara or Alonso? No. But he's 100x the tackler Trapp is, pure and simple. And he's not afraid to get stuck-in.

Now, if we sign a TAM DM that is Chara or Alonso level, and Artur becomes our backup CM / DM, then this is a good deal in the end.

Surely no one will disagree that players like Chara and Alonso, in their primes, are superior players to Trapp. And if we sign someone at that level, this is a big step up for us. And we have Morris and Berhalter in reserve. Now we're talking about 5 players for 2 spots.

Apparently I'm the only one that cares. Everyone else is helping him out the door and packing his U-haul for him.

He may be in the minority, but he's not alone in this regard. When the hell does having more people around ever make things better? Ugh.

And (I believe) all those players actually won something with their teams.

Wil was a cog in the very good 2015 team that fell just short. We haven't been that good since. The more influence on the team that Wil had, the worse we were. Time to move on.

Wanted to check on the narrative of Porter trying to reassemble the old band?

Secondly, can anyone confirm when he is out of contract. If it’s next year this is us getting value before he walks for free.

I took a stroll over to the Miami board to see their reaction. No mention. I realize there are gargantuan variations in the amount of activity on different team's boards on this server, but not even acknowledging the arrival of a national team player feels a little too low key.

Been saying that since we got Bez and Porter on board. Three year plan. I think in a lot of ways they wasted last year. Over the course of the year we turned over the roster a decent amount though, so ok.

This year is putting most of the pieces together, building an identity and finding out what tweaks it might take to be championship caliber next season. Not that I wouldn't take winning it all this year.

I like the way we're trending. We were better at the end of 2019 than we were at the beginning. We're better now than we were at the end of 2019.

Bez noted that he's in the last year of his contract on the Crew page news.

No one has commented in the Portland forum since 2017. It happens. Some teams just aren’t active in BigSoccer.

Wil Trapp, a midfielder, scored 1 goal for every 100 games in which he played. This is a large enough sample size that we can derive great meaning from said statistic.

Wil Trapp, due to a lack of closing speed, must be partnered with another similarly defensive midfielder, which necessitates numbers in attack coming from the wings and outside backs.

Nagbe will be going forward more consistently than were Trapp and Artur. Whether it's Artur or a new signing filling the spaces which Nagbe leaves behind himself as he joins the attack, another quality, pacy central-mid is a priority for depth.

I hope Trapp finds a spot in Miami. And stays on the wagon.

Basically any team that formed after Reddit became the centralized message board repository of the universe isn't going to be active in BigSoccer.
