I too am excited to see him in MLS. His record for the national team is remarkable considering his mediocre club play, and maybe being around other Americans and/or in America sometimes contributed to that? His knees are a huge liability, and FCC's inability to get service to target forwards / poachers is concerning, but I wonder if the mental boost of being back on home soil will do some good for his confidence.
this is (if it happens) overwhelmingly positive. zero qualifiers. if he never regains even close to his peak form, well, ok. damn sure wasnt happening in germany. but maybe he does. what about 75%? is 75% of that better than zardes/1 match from jozy out of 11/sargent at this point? yeah, i think it is. im confident its not any worse. hes got to play. week in, week out, just play. i dont care how garbage a team cincy is, hes shown he CAN produce sporadically in the bund, and regularly in the 2bund and internationally (certainly in concacaf). the zero downside (other than, worst case, for cincys payroll which i dont care at all about) whereas currently (without this move) he has zero upside.
I can't imagine that the grind of an MLS season is what the doctor would order for Bobby's knees. Hopefully they only play him on grass.
BREAKING: CST is hearing from league sources that the Bobby Wood deal is stalled and unlikely. Terms are agreed to but it sounds like Cincinnati is not the right fit for Bobby at this point.— Cincy Soccer Talk (@cincysoccertalk) January 30, 2020 Gap between salary and what teams are willing to pay?
The rumor going around is actually that FCC pulled out of the deal because they have a better one lined up. The GM's son is popping off on twitter about a striker from a 'top-5 European league' who will give Josef, 'a run for his top goal getter titel(sic)'. If true, how sad... Bobby Wood got turned down by FCC...

Maybe terms with Cincy/MLS and Hamburg had been agreed to but Wood didnt agree to the contract... Salary or destination might be an issue...
Would love to see it if he goes to a team with half assed service to the inside guys. He'll be one solid cornerstone of the proof of the difference in league quality when he shines in the MLS. Because he will if he gets on a team with wings and a decent midfield.
Again, my guess is that this move was set and then FCC retracted it. They're now being linked to Jurgen Locadia, and a handful of FCC reporters are claiming the deal is actually done.
That would make sense. Terms agreed on but FCC refused to sign. Too bad for Bobby but I'm sure there's an MLS team that would take a flyer on him for 500-750k.
I’d certainly give up my 500k salary in San Francisco for half that incNashsville. But I have upside and growth to look forward to.
This is getting way off-topic, but I still don't understand the general hatred from MLS fandom over the Nashville move. MLS wants a larger presence in the Southeast, and Nashville is a city that is growing economically and having a pretty massive demographic turnover... why wouldn't MLS want to land in Nashville? FCC fans being mad that Nashville was announced before their team was announced is maybe the pettiest beef in all of sports. Anyway, Nashville would be a solid landing spot for Wood. They are in need of a no.9, and I think Bobby Wood's name carries heavier weight with US Soccer fans than Daniel Lovitz or Hany Mukhtar, however, for a team in need of a go-to goal scorer, Wood isn't as proven as his price-tag might suggest. If we see that move, it's probably over the summer (Nashville FO has hinted that their big acquisition period might be over, which makes sense given the financial instability of their stadium deal with the city), but it's still plausible.
Asset manager with over a half trillion dollars under management. Pretty major player in the financial world. Big score for Nashville. Kinda surprised AB didn’t pick Charlotte, but still a good move for them to escape the high-SALT jurisdiction of NYC. Their employees will make out well in the move.
Wood knows about his situation and is generally ready to leave Hamburg early under certain conditions despite a top-end contract (runs until summer 2021). The Ohio State MLS Club had officially requested Wood. But: Financially, the offer for the ex-international (45 international caps) was not a basis for negotiation. The offered annual fee was apparently less than 1 million euros. For comparison: If HSV rises and would be back in the Bundesliga in the coming season, Wood would collect around 4 million What's more: FC Cincinnati is anything but a dream club in the MLS. Last season, they finished last in the Eastern Conference and also last in the overall table (24th place). Wood consultant Volker Struth is now looking for alternatives in the United States. Good: The MLS transfer window will only open in the next few days. There is no time pressure for a change. https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/...cinnati-hat-zu-wenig-kohle-68557524.bild.html
