Kobe‘s the perfect example of people not wanting to believe their idol may have done some bad things because it would tarnish their image of him.
I’m torn on the allegations, I haven’t followed b-ball in years but he gave us (the city) so much joy and a source of pride. I think about my life at that moment and in a lot of ways their winning was one of the few times I felt happy, made life a bit more tolerable. A buzz that continued with every radio show I heard and article I read. It was incredible. I want to believe he was a good man so I mostly give him the botd. then you take into account his daughter...it’s hard not to be upset.
Like I’ve said a man that’s good 99% of the time can still be rotten that 1%. He raped her. Plain and simple. Doesn’t mean he wasnt a good father or b-ball player. It means he had a moment where fcuked up the life of a young woman and Kobe fans and Laker fans vilified her and even Kobe made a statement trying to diffuse that.
He's a Peruvian international, midfield player of Feyenoord. While being a very good player, is a bench sitter. He sometimes does things you think of "oh no, you can't do that there".

You’re probably right...I mostly agree, I haven’t been a huge fan of his which is why I was surprised by how much it stung.

At least, he's one of the few Peruvian players from whom this applies only to on-the-field, as opposed to after-hours
