D.C. United in talks with NBC Sports Washington for local TV rights "D.C. United is in serious talks with NBC Sports Washington about becoming its local broadcast partner, a move that would return the MLS organization to a cable platform after a disastrous, short-lived pact with a national streaming service."
Per the email the team sent to STH today you need to return your tickets for FAM 5 days before the game. Used to be 24 hours.
This is pretty cool... Midfielder Gabriel Gomez, son of former @dcunited star Christian Gomez, is signing with Loudoun United. From Nueva Chicago, age 22.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 28, 2020 And here's the official release from Loudoun: https://www.loudoununitedfc.com/news_article/show/1081548
Also, for today's scrimmage with Montreal, Goff reports it was 0-0 at half with good chances for both sides. Starters/regulars pulled out half. We're currently down 0-3. Apparently we do need depth.
DCU vs other teams I get it, but cross posting of the same material (which is happening) muddles conversation and makes it less likely to be of use.
When we were talking about BWP in terms of a free agent DC United could sign, I think questions and comments about whether he's currently signed or trialing elsewhere are valid.
This was posted over on the DC United Reddit board: Panathinaikos, Antalyaspor and DC United all interested in signing Wales captain Ashley Williams on a pre-contract agreement. His Bristol City contract expires at the end of this season. He’s happy there and focused on making Euro 2020 but will consider his options.— Dafydd Pritchard (@DafPritchard) January 29, 2020 He's a Center Back
Goff reports that we are close to signing a French based CB: As suspected, DCU is pushing hard to sign a French-based defender. It's a center back. One source says deal could be near, another is more cautious. Curious to see if club gets it across the finish line.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 30, 2020
Throwing out names based off of transfermarkt research: Leo Lecroix and Jemerson Both are 27, Brazilian, right-footed CBs, and out of contract in June. Would likely be a TAM signing with low transfer fee.
Did we suspect United was going after a French defender? I remember hearing Sir Chad was scouting in France. And we do need a defender (almost as much as we need a forward). Interesting to say French-based and not French, matches up with the players above We always get the best Brazilians [make your own joke]
With Birbaum's concussion problems & Brillant's expiring shelf life, it makes sense to come up with an option besides Donovan Pines.
Well, we are already trialing a guy named Duke Lacroix - would be funny to have them both Might be too confusing for the folks putting names on the back of jerseys
You're slipping. One of the Lecroix is Brazilian so he'll have one name on the back of his jersey and it won't be his last name.
I slip for a living What's the Portuguese slang word for overpriced bad-tasting water? I'd allow that on the back
Tom Bogert @tombogert #FCCincy head coach Ron Jans on a conference call with reporters, pretty blunt about Darren Mattocks: "To be honest, he’s not in our plans." Depth? I am a fan of having a speedy forward on the bench that can be brought on against a tired defense. Mattocks chaffed at that role before, but the year at Cincy may have humbled him.
