So, what you're saying is that you have to shoot at the goal if you want to score?
    Interesting.

    He who shoots wins.

Here I thought that issue was just cause Sarri wanted everyone to pass it in the net and not cause the players didn’t want to pull the trigger on a shot.

Tammy is the only one who seems to want it. Pulisic and Mount flash it but aren’t natural goal scorers with the same mentality like Tammy. Kante can get into position but that’s never been his game. That’s really it.

If only we had a young Pedro. He might not have torn up the scoring sheets but that was more so cause the team he played for in Barca but dude is a finisher.

As far scoring goals, at this very very very early pace, Mount is on pace to score 80 goals/48 assists plus, and make far more (with assists, let alone hockey assists - ) over next ten years (380 matches PL) please remind me of all the for and before natural goal scoring box - box players who obliterated that pace ...

(mid you Kante, Jorg, and Kov have combined 17g/17a in over 300 matches combined thus far)

You’re making massive assumptions on a small sample size. Like I said he flashes it but he doesn’t have that same natural mentality. Tammy no matter the miss always shoots again. Always wants another crack. Mount wants to score and you see him try and take it but you’ll also see him be timid and over pass it sometimes. He needs to improve his overall decision making. And that hopefully comes with seasoning. He doesn’t need to have it but my point is we need more that do. He just doesn’t have that im going to score at all costs mentality.

Krzysztof Piatek - a loan with an option to buy? Now they have Zlatan they no longer want/need Piatek. Chelsea and Spurs have been offered him apparently. But he hasn't had the best of season's thus far and they are very very keen to get rid of him.

I am beginning to see nothing happening for us in this window. A match fit RLC would be like a new signing, but I cannot see him being that match fit until April at the earliest.

The usual rumours still being kicked about in the press. Giroud off to Inter. Last ditch battle for Dembele, who agreed personal terms, but his club won't let him leave. So the story goes. Ho-Hum.

yet..er...you are making your assumptions/opinions/facts on the same sample set

Mount timid and gun-shy about shooting, o_O:confused: just don't see it, most people have been complaining about him being too quick to pull trigger

He has scored goals at Vitesse, he has scored goals at Derby, He has scored goals this year (top 3 on team though not a lot of comp thus far), 30 the last 2 and half years for Clubs, a bit silly to say he is not a goal scorer; he is a central attacking box to box midfielder his job is not to score 30 goals a season, I pray our lead striker is a more prolific and a more natural goal scorer.

I said he is on pace to score that many, not that he will or won't, so "pace" speaks to what he is doing now and done in the PL but you ask me absent injury I think his goal-pace will only increase

    Rumors of:

Chillwell and Ziyech in the summer.

We wanted Mertens this window, but he doesn't really want to leave.

Hopefully none of that is remotely true, except for perhaps Ziyech.

Hope CHO torches Chilwell when we play and puts an end to that nonsense, though that one may have some truth to it.

Mertens gotta think is utter crap from an agent or just purely made up by Journos and the cheek of allegedly asking 40 million for a 32 year old out of contract in summer, not even named Cavani.

40 is a lot of money (we would never pay that), but Mertens still has a decent return. He has 9 goals in 20 appearances so far. That puts him on pace to better his tally of last year (19 goals in 47apps). He'd be handy to have around, but not for 40m. Laughable.

Mertens, good to have a player who can teach the youngsters. Wait until the summer we can get Mertens on a free.

Chels also linked to Hakim Ziyech [26] from Ajax.

Idea: Make the transfer window 72 hours on a weekend in January. Make it all live. Sponsor the hell out of it. Pubs will be packed. Wall to wall coverage. Insanity. Fax machines. Paperwork.

This one is a bummer, but honestly, after Reece signed his huge new deal, there was no way for him to get into the team I guess. Best of luck to the little guy

Yeah, sucks, but I feel the same here. With Reece's production and involvement, the writing is on the wall.

Not looking great for us but Lampty not a done deal, with several clubs in the running

Supposedly Board are ready to sanction a Giroud to tots, hope not that would be extremely stupid regardless of whether we get a striker in the last minute panic sale

And Willian supposedly wanted by Barca right now for 20 million; he is begging to stay, Gaffer Lamp begging for him to be re-signed; what are the odds this will be the Boards' one deal this week....or a double with Giroud to tots...

Willian isn’t going anywhere. Even if we don’t re up him. Giroud to Spurs is whatever to me. I agree I don’t like strengthening rivals but if they offer 15-20 desperately I’d be ok with it. Tho I’d prefer him going to Inter or France.

How much is the CL spot worth; Giroud gets 1 or 2 key timely goals for tots instead of us it could be a mistake exponentially more expensive than what ever relative pittance we would get, supposedly we asked Inter for 8

Unless we get a striker, think we should keep and use Giroud as a super sub for the last 30-40 against the bus lots we can't yet penetrate and with Reece when Tammy out

Until we get a Sancho or 2 actually signed, be a huge mistake to lose Willian and he is free to sign to go in summer right now, though he has made it clear his heart, (and wife's wishes are here) but he will want to lock up his last sizable deal very soon and can't be blamed for that desire.

Giroud doesn’t score goals. He’s all hold up at this point in his career. He’s also not a superb type that’s not his game. Like it or not it’s Bats or nothing after Tammy. Giroud just can’t do what Frank wants his ST to do.

I doubt he’s the difference between us and Spurs in UCL. The money would be nice and I’d be ok with it but like I said I’d rather he go elsewhere.

    On Dries Mertens.

Apparently, we made contact around Christmas and have kept in touch since. Mertens' contract ends this summer. Napoli would like to extend, but why hasn't that happened already? Mertens would like to break Hamsik's goals record at Napoli, but recent injuries have delayed that.

As a player, he can play four roles along the top of the offense and offers a more mobile solution than Giroud. That said - teams that are beating us/doing well against us are playing us in a giant block of 9 players. We've been unable to unlock this type of defense and Mertens, who likes running behind defenses, won't offer much relief, I worry. His goals tally is decent. Yes, his output is down some (9 goals in 20 apps this year, but on pace to at least match last year's tally of 19).

He's 33 in May and January signings rarely have an impact. By the time he adjusts to our style and the league, his level of impact will be minimal...

A one year deal for a fee of 9m (offset by Giroud sale)? I guess that's fine.

But we better blow this shit wide open in the summer. It's comforting to hear from Lampard that he/club realizes we are at a disadvantage from not being able to strengthen in the past summer.

Lampty to Brighton this week, deal reported to be agreed with us, hopefully we found a way to insert a buyback/ first option clause

Lamp says Giroud will stay, which means...should have saved the Appeal Ban lawyers' fees to pay Conti

Leicester was one of Giroud's two starts, rather see him than Bats tomorrow if Tammy is a no go

Not surprised and kind of OK with it. Obviously none of its ideal but now we won't be stuck with some overpriced/overpaid short term option and do things right in the summer.
