Need to work on the attack, need to figure out how to get other forwards scoring and contributing to buildup.

Jovic started both games in that Saudi cup. The player who is not getting any valuable minutes is James

well, they should've been playing against 10 for about 80 minutes, would've changed quite a bit

Im not a big Hazard fan but i cant wait for him to come back, our wings are non existing without him and Vinicius.
Hopefully he will make the difference and help Benzema regain form.

It is good to see us scoring from set pieces once again, set pieces goals were very important part of the 2016-2017 team.

We’ll have to wait and see in what shape he comes back in. We need him to ignite this deceased attack.

Sometimes you have to wonder if people actually watch these games, outside one instance Valladolid had no good scoring opportunity all game long ( while we created several )and were only competitive for the first 20 minutes and the last 10. We were superior to them especially in that second half, the game was being played in their camp entirely.

Valverde is probably the most important player alongside Casemiro at this point. Brings tons of much needed depth. While Isco and Modrić are well... ripe as a peach for departure.

Glass half full: the fact we’ve managed to stay undefeated for 2 months without Hazard and now top of the table is impressive

That was one ugly win, but champions do need such wins from time to time.

Lucas did some really dumb shit in his short cameo. He used to be average, pretty decent at times, how did he get this bad? To the point that even seeing him on the bench makes you worried.

Unlike Barca we actually held possession with purpose, we were vertical and moved the ball a lot faster, if Benzema had his shooting boots on we win this game comfortably.

As some have pointed out that it is a worrying sign having to rely on Nacho to save us.

But more than that is we don't seem to be executing any kind of game plan, unless of course the plan was for Kross to send crosses in from the wing and Nacho to finish them with full volley backheels.

Lots of questions going forward about how in the heck is Lucas Vasquez getting on the field at all, but also in front of Jovic, James, Vinicius, etc., that is bad management and there is no other way to spin it.

Zidane insisting on him is highly disturbing. Mind******** really.

We had like 2 clear chances. I did not really see the vertical movement you are talking about.

Did Valladolid have one shot on target even?

    They did not.

This is the best our defense has been in a long time

Because we can pressure teams higher and more intensive than with Bale and especially Cristiano. It was impossible to that, if one player lacks in the pressing, your team gets exposed. We lost a great attacking force in Ronnie, but increased our defensive structure.

Probably because you were too busy rage posting about James not playing.

Clear chances sure but how many more would have been clear if Benz's control didnt let him down? we also had many half chances while Valladolid had nothing apart from that shot that got blocked by Mendy. I doubt they had one shot on target all game.

I get what you're trying to say but today really wasn't a great offensive performance. Valladolid let us have all the possession we wanted and we did nothing with it for the majority of the game. We didn't even have a shot on/off target until the 38th minute of the game. We had 3 shots on target all game and 2 of them were very poor attempts from Benzema. It's good that we got the win in the end but we've seen days like this go very differently this very season.

Mendy was again a tank defensively. Loved the challenge he made at backline. Offensively he was better than last games had a couple of good rushes but Benzema was never in the box.

Thats because we only got into Rhythm 20 minutes in, it wasn't champagne football, thats not my claim but what im saying is that we earned this win and were superior to Valladolid, especially in the 2nd half, saying that they just let us have the ball is questionable, they tried to press but we played out of it as well counter pressed them hard everytime they had a break on.

So were kind of back to where we were under Mourinho, coach with tremendous amount of recent and relevant success who cannot be questioned or undermined.

Meanwhile multiple star players are being ostracized and the team is playing solid but negative football unable to control games or create chances through a reliable system of goal production.
