I thought that was only for written language. Is there a way to use it for real time spoken Spanish?

Perhaps more importantly, I just checked ussoccer.com and Univision's schedule on my satellite, meaning to set it to record. Usssoccer does indicate that the third game, Costa Rica, should be on Univision-- but the schedule doesn't show it, it shows a Mexican women's league game then. The earlier games aren't there either. And yes, I checked all the Univision channels; including the sports one.

That Univision notice only just appeared on the CONCACAF site so it is possible that the Univision schedule does not reflect the addition, at least yet.

What FofF said + you probably have your daily satellite update cycle set for when you are asleep.

There’s conversation and voice button on it. Think your tv should have captions or subtitles too.

Grant Wahl actually spoke to someone at CONCACAF and reports that there will be a broadcaster. The deal just isn't done yet:

Univision does not provide subs or captions in English for soccer matches they do not hold English language rights to nor do they have SAP available in English.
I highly doubt the Google translate would even be remotely satisfactory for soccer matches as it barely works for the written language. My limited and somewhat slow Spanish is almost certainly MUCH better that anything Google could provide.

Note: CONCACAF now no longer shows Univision as the Spanish language rights holder. For the latest in what the rights show for TV rights see:
    https://www.concacaf.com/en/olympics-qualifying-women/watch

I hope they get off their collective asses and gets the rights set pretty soon. I currently do not have a sub to Sling or Hulu or any other service and I want to choose whichever one and whichever plan will allow me to see these matches and, if there are further soccer coverage available then that is just a bonus. I hope which ever one I need also includes some EPL coverage. But I cannot make a choice until CONCACAF actually steps up and fulfills their obligations to the fans of women's soccer.

What the heck? Didn't NBC show the games 4 years ago? If they own the rights, why wouldn't they just keep it simple and do it again?

Owning the rights to the Olympics themselves does not mean they own the rights to the various qualifying events. CONCACAF is running the women's soccer qualifying tournament and owns the rights thereto. It is up to CONCACAF to do the work and find a broadcaster for the matches.

Olympic qualifying is completely separate from the Olympics themselves.

Just ridiculous that the game is about 100 hours away and we still don't know if and where we can watch it.

I woulda thought nbc woulda picked it up and put it on their Olympic channel as a primer for this summer. Seems all they have on it is reruns of old programming and live curling

I "think" in the last Olympic cycle we pretty much saw the same thing. CONCACAF is simply incompetent. (I misspelled incompetent and the first suggestion made by my spellchecker was incontinent. I am not completely sure that suggestion was not really the best choice.)

Another piece about the broadcast debacle:
    From Sport's Illustrated: https://www.si.com/soccer/2020/01/24/uswnt-olympic-qualifying-tv-broadcast-rights-concacaf

With just four days remaining before the world champion U.S. women’s national team’s first game in the Concacaf Olympic qualifying tournament, there remained no announcement as of Friday afternoon on where fans in the U.S. would be able to watch broadcasts of the matches.

It seems wild that this would be the case in the year 2020, but it was still true with just days to go before the U.S. meets Haiti in Houston on Tuesday.

Sources at two U.S. TV networks told SI that Concacaf had tried to package the rights to the women’s Olympic qualifying tournament with rights to other Concacaf properties, including March’s men’s Olympic qualifying tournament. Those networks refused to bite.

Four years ago, the Concacaf women’s Olympic qualifying tournament was shown in the U.S. on the platforms of NBC, which owns the rights to the Olympics themselves. NBC has not acquired the qualifying rights this time around.

A source with knowledge of the situation told SI that Concacaf is producing the qualifying tournament games for some of its rights-holders in countries outside the U.S. and would make those games available to viewers in the U.S. if there was no agreement reached on U.S. rights for the games. Concacaf will make an announcement before the tournament starts.

Concacaf owns the rights to the qualifying tournament, not U.S. Soccer. Berths in this summer’s Olympic tournament will go to the winners of the two semifinal games on Feb. 7 at the L.A. Galaxy's Dignity Health Sports Park.

In addition to facing Haiti, the U.S. women will also face Panama (Jan. 31) and Costa Rica (Feb. 3), with all group games taking place at the Houston Dynamo's BBVA Stadium. Canada, Mexico, Jamaica and Saint Kitts and Nevis are in the region's other group, playing their matches at H-E-B Park in Edinburg, Texas. The top two teams in each group reach the all-important semifinal round.

Maybe NBC rather televise figure skating or Univision rather televise Liga MX?

Or, maybe and I think it is MUCH more probable, CONCACAF has been and is being much too demanding in its demands for the rights like trying to bundle other CONCACAF events that many of the broadcasters have zero interest in televising. Olympic qualifying is NOT a high demand event and I think CONCACAF should simply settle for getting the women's tournament shown without trying to force sell the other events.

I'm obviously not a mod, but I believe it's against the TOS to copy an article in full in a post because of copyright. And politely I'd like to point out: aren't you the poster with strong convictions about using a VPN to access a foreign stream? Isn't this similar? o_O

The only reason I did that was that I noticed there was a rather intrusive video in the link and I thought the item was important. I do not usually paste an entire article but I felt this was important enough to warrant a slight violation of the rules.
