There was a good article talking about the day it clicked for Ronaldo at United training. I'll see if I can find it. When he went from showman to focusing on scoring any type of goals and understanding thats what more important. Regards, what we're talking about, I think Pellegrini doesn't have "it". It being that hunger, possibly chip on his shoulder to prove them wrong. I seem his demeanor on the pitch and its the nice boy who grew up well. He knows he'll have a good career, make money, life is good etc. That translates to him being afraid to put his foot in to nick the ball, possibly create a goal or win a pen. Case in point a couple of games ago when he was played that nice pass down the inside channel of the Juve defence. He knew the Juve player was coming across and he didnt want the challenge and so the ball runs out. This is him in a nut shell. Against the best you have to do something more to win the game. Not so against the Parma's. I agree with you that theres no guarantee on him ever fulfilling his potential. I've seen enough of him to call my opinion on him now. He will have a career of extreme good to bad performances and finish a good player who never pushed on. Technically he is WC but thats not enough. Unless we have some very good man management people who can get in his head and rile him up, he will continue to frustrate. I thought it was just experience but its more.
I second Magica. I have played Pellegrini's position since childhood - you have the edge, or you don't. He will have a decent career, Roma or not - but to make that jump in the next tier, you have to go a bit bezerk.
And to add, could he end up at stay a Juve and be a winner? Yes because they have the culture to win from every training session to every match. It could be beat into him because of the demands put on him and he's outside his comfort zone away from his home town. Roma giving up 2 goals in 10 mins and 3 goals in the 1st half in 2 games back to back v Juve. It shows you the culture difference of the two clubs. The likes of Radja and Strootman brought a fight and character to this team we badly miss. Pretty ball players are not enough. Petrachi understands players character being the right fit and has spoken about it. I hope he brings a few of these type of winning mentality back into the group that is badly lacking leaders.
Pellegrini will probably score a winner vs Lazio but then go back to the same problems everyone has mentioned after
It is the perfect time to find out. We had faith in Zaniolo at the same age. Why not give the kid a chance? Much rather take a chance on a guy who is coveted by Juventus but who loves Roma than take a chance on a short term solution for high wages that we might get stuck with for 2-3 years.

I have to say, Ibanez seems like a strange purchase. Assuming we sell JJ there is still Fazio and Cetin. 5 CB seems like a bit much

Had this lad down as Parejo’s long-term replacement at Valencia. In-house product, similar skill set. Smart move from Roma to bring Villar in. https://t.co/Yz4YSmiEOX— David Cartlidge (@davidjaca) January 26, 2020
