Serie A is slowly improving... very slowly. Juve was a head of the curve in how they originally built the team. But teams are getting smarter in how they are developing young talent
I don't really follow Serie A at all, what happened to that league? It was arguably the best in the world in the 90s/early 00s--just an effect of the decline of the Italian economy relative to Britain and Germany?
Thought Reyna looked very good. He played basically more of a right inside forward or inverted winger, spending most of his time centrally as Hakimi provided width. Obviously Haaland was the star, but Gio looked like he belonged, showed a little bit of flash with a misplaced backheel and had a decent shot that went wide left. Made some nice runs in the box. He also made the solid, normal play for the hockey assist on Haaland's third, which is only worth talking about because he's 17 and this is his debut.
I couldn't tell, because it seemed like it should have gone to another player who committed a foul near the box. Not sure if he did something I missed or the refs -- who basically were just trying to finish out the game -- screwed up the players.
he didn't get that yellow. Just looked like the ref was showing him the card on TV...weird camera angle I guess. Now it's up to GGG to get the kid integrated ASAP. Looks like he will be a factor this cycle.
At least I think that is the case...they listed the other player as getting the yellow on the broadcast but it did look like the ref was showing Gio the card and I can't find any confirmation of who got booked.
Vasilev came on with just over 20 mins left down a goal. Reviews generally good. Indiana Vassilev’s intelligent run drew two central defenders away from Grealish to set up the goal. #AVFC— Jack Grimse (@JackGrimse) January 18, 2020 1218572980453892102 is not a valid tweet id
yeah, its obviously complicated (far beyond what i know) but its as simple as that- they had all the money in the same way the prem does now.
Sargent had a poor game but poor team performance didn't help so he gets a mulligan. Reyna has nice soft feet and is pretty smart. He'll go as far as his athleticism allows. Adams looked good for Leipzig. I think Poulsen is better than their new starter Swick. Gunku was always over-rated. Adams could play Gunku's position and do better with distribution + defense.
I am surprised by Reyna's athleticism. Decent pace, work rate and has size. Certainly more athletic than Dad.
unpacking team selection decisions about to get pretty wild with these kids getting minutes in top 5 (3?) leagues
just say hes your guy and reality doesnt matter. it was the usual performance from a bad team. some part of that is due to injuries throughout the season, but thats also the primary reason sarge gets minutes. i want him to work out, but youre just blowing sunshine here.
Mixture of poor economy, the cheating scandal back in 2006, and just poor youth development. The top teams for awhile were not investing in youth. Serie A became a retirement league for awhile
maybe it’s because minorities have to be vastly overpaid to go there where there’s over-the-top racism that is pretty much allowed by the league.
"Pretty much" being an understatement. I'm sure you saw the ad campaign they (maybe it was the Italian football federation and not Serie A) put forth recently utilizing a MONKEY FACE. I mean, jesus effin christ. Even their anti-racist stuff is racist as all hell.
Chris Richards should probably seek a loan or transfer away from Bayern Munich. Personally, I think he’s good enough to be a senior level player, but it’s no longer good for his development to be stuck at the kiddy’s table. At almost 20, if I’m him, I’d push to somewhere in the Bundesliga.2, Eredivise, Belgium, or Austria. And on that point, what’s going on with Miazga, and Carter-Vickers? Both seem to be AWOL recently. Not a good sign when our YA center backs looks like our weakest position abroad. Good news is that Palmer-Brown may have found his level at Austria Wien.
