Well RBL is getting Benjamin Henrichs from Monaco, who can play RB and DM, as a replacement, it seems: https://www.bavarianfootballworks.c...naco-bayern-munich-julian-nagelsmann-rangnick Per a new report by Bild+, AS Monaco defender Benjamin Henrichs has decided to join RB Leipzig instead of Bayern Munich. The German international is said to have already agreed personal terms with Leipzig and that a long-term contract is on the table. The only obstacle Monaco and Leipzig still face at the moment is lining up a concrete replacement for Henrichs and agreeing on a finalized fee. Monaco want somewhere around 25-million Euros while it’s understood that Leipzig don’t really want to pay much more than 20-million Euros. --- Monaco would be dumb to sell him for under €25m. He's 22 but it's shown continuous improvement (possible late bloomer).
Ugh that doesn’t help unless this guy plays RB. Has this Laimer guy played well? Kampl is going to come back so I’m hoping Adams is viewed as a better player than Laimer and then Kampl can assume Demme’s spot. Kampl worked well with Adams last year at DM.
Laimer has played further up the field this year and did some work on the outside last season, and is much more suited to that than CDM. Henrichs is good but I'm not sure he's better than Adams and his versatility can be helpful especially in the fullback spots. Really, all these guys can play CDM, but Demme was basically the only guy who was a similar player to Tyler, with endless energy and the tackling bite to destroy attacks and counters. I think in the end, Tyler comes out on top if the window ends like this currently. BTW, just poking around a bit, it's really amazing the kind of roster RBL has put together of quality 20-24yo players. They're young and hungry and it shows on the field and now, the table.
Stanislav Lobotka and Diego Demme to Napoli, here we go! €20M + €4M add ons to Celta Vigo for Lobotka, €12M to RB Leipzig for Demme. Total agreement. 🔵 #transfers #Napoli— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 10, 2020 One of the more reliable transfer news sources says Demme to Napoli is done.
Nice find. Really happy with this move. Even though they have other options, I still think it shows a ton of confidence in Adams. Now he just needs to stay healthy... because when he is I think he is the most talent USMNT player.
It should be noted that in the first game this season where Adams was available, he started. It was out of position, but Nagelsman "liked" him enough to put him in the 11. More substantively, today's RBL injury report is that Kampl and Forsberg are out, and Tyler was not mentioned, so presumably he's healthy and available for selection for Sunday's match against FC Union Berlin. At a minimum, I would expect Adams to start at defensive midfield. Whether Nagelsman wants to give him a partner, as was done last season sometimes with Demme or Kampl, is an open question. That said, Leipzig are at home and Union have a decent defense. I like his chances for getting the roll out in his preferred position against a team that will likely spend much of the game pinned back by the Bundesliga's top-scoring offense. If anything, the likelihood of counters as Union's way to break pressure will give Adams a chance to shine, snuffing attacks, winning the ball and sending it back into the mixer.
Just a quick correction.... RB Leipzig is playing Union Berlin on Sat.... so don't forget to set your DVR. It is the main late game of the morning... so it will be shown on one of the regular Fox Sports channels. At any rate, I am very interested to see where he plays this weekend. As much as I want to see him back in his CDM role... he gets more of a chance to attack when playing at right-back. Either way, I just want to see him on the pitch. He has been my favorite USMNT player since last season and I am eager to see how he finishes off the season amidst this tight title race.
In today's press conference, Nagelsmann didn't reveal where he'll play Tyler but said he's healthy and had a good match before the winter break. It'll be interesting to see where he plays. "Tyler made a very good game against FCA. Incredibly active, always under high tension at full throttle. He's going to be good for us, he can defend on the outside, but also on the six or eight. He is healthy and has no problems. We hope he stays painless" https://rblive.de/spieltag/rb-leipz...enz-mit-julian-nagelsmann-im-liveticker-11037
Thanks. It only feels like Friday, I guess. While he may get more freedom to attack from the RB position, he does have more competition there from guys like Mukiele. I would say that he has the opportunity to be more influential from the d-mid position.
Yeah... don't get me wrong. Adams can be elite at CDM and I think it is his best position... just saying that after this long of an absence I will be happy no matter where he is playing. Just want to watch his talent on display. He is a wonder.
Yeah RBL didn't publicize their winter break friendlies or anything like other clubs do, but he hasn't been on any injury reports at all and is certainly ready to go this weekend. Excited to have the Bundesliga back.
Word. Adams, Brooks, Chandler, Morales, Sargent, Steffen and Weston are those that are getting regular minutes if not flat-out starting on the regular. Now Gio looks like he is going to get some minutes for BVB down the stretch. When they are all healthy and playing for their teams it makes for one heck of an enjoyable weekend. It really doesn't seem like it is out of the realm of possibility that this number will roughly double within the next 3 years.
