A lot going on these days with Cruz Azu. First of all, even with the lack of goals, I never thought it was panic time. They started slow in Clausura as well. The fall of Caixinha surprised me but it didn't surprise me as much as losing Pelaez. I was watching last night on ESPN Deportes and if what was stated was true, I don't blame him for quitting. He basically said that the decision to hire Siboldi was essentially done without him. He wanted Antonio Mohammed. Bad bad form on the part of Garces and Alvarez. What is the point of having a sporting director if upper management is going to dictate things like the hiring of your coach? Here's a direct quote from Garces -
Basically, if upper management says "Hire this guy", you basically have to say yes and move on. Don't blame Pelaez at all. I like Pelaez and it would have been great to see Mohammed take control. Not sure what to make of Siboldi My fear is that in order to not look like idiots in this hiring, they're willing to give him lots and lots of time in charge no matter the results. We're regressing again in my view.

Sweet lord, you can't make this stuff up. So now in an interview to Futbol Picante, there's Jose Luis Nassar - lawyer to Billy Alvarez, president of "la cooperativa" - saying that Victor Garces has no authority to name a coach since he was dumped by "la cooperativa" back in 2011 when he was accused of fraudulent activities. So his naming of Siboldi was totally illegal. Garces apparently is not really the vice president of "la cooperativa" and he has no legal claim to performing any duties for Cruz Azul. Nassar mentioned that we should all wait until Billy Alvarez turns up and gives us his final answer to this whole situation. Until then, nothing's been decided.

    Wow.

What a clown show. Hopefully the team can keep their focus and we get a resolution to this as soon as possible. Right now nobody knows who the coach is and we have a week until the next game. Who prepares the team? Can maybe Pelaez come back ? Also, poor Siboldi. Not the guy's fault this is going on - this whole thing is unfair to him.

Billy - figure this out and let's get back to playing.

Some more links and quotes in regard to the Pelaez/Cruz Azul saga. If you haven't seen the full Victor Garces interview in Futbol Picante, take a quick look. Very instructional material when it comes to seeing the dysfunction with upper management at CA. It is telling that neither Garces nor Alfredo Alvarez saw fit to attend the Leagues Cup final match. -

Seriously, Victor Garces has no shame. After denigrating Cruz Azul wins of Copa MX, Supercopa, etc., calling them 'copitas' without real value, they put up probably the smallest of the 'copitas' - the Leagues Cup - trophy on display so fans can take their selfies outside the stadium.

I really shouldn't keep tuning in to hear more of Victor Garces. But man the guy just won't go away. The more you hear the more you see just how corrupt these guys are. In the Oct. 14th Futbol Picante he's asked regarding the duties of a sporting director -

"No tiene que estar en una reunion de decisiones deportivas?

His answer to this is "para mi no".

So what the heck is a sporting director then. Garces says they don't need one now but that they'll get one once his duties are established. If he doesn't think the sporting director should be involved in decisions having to do with the club then why the hell would they need a sporting director. Curious to see if eventually they hire someone.

Sad to see CA miss out of the liguilla once again. Honestly, the team basically collapsed after the Pelaez/Caixinha debacle (the win against America notwithstanding). Feel bad for Siboldi. He's brought in without the consent of the sporting director who then quits. I'm assuming he was expected to get the team into the liguilla, otherwise why not just leave Caixinha in there. So now you have a team without a sporting director (because according to Garces they don't need one) and Siboldi with a team he inherited and which will probably be dismantled. So here we go yet again. I don't think 2020 will be much better and I don't think Siboldi makes it to the end of the year. Hope I'm wrong. We had a good run there for a bit. Got a bit rough at the end but I honestly don't see things getting much better in 2020. But hey, come January, we get to see how this soap opera continues.

Cruz Azul is my team, and I am cheering against them. I want to things to get so bad that they hit rock bottom and the whole organizational structure implodes and leads to massive changes.

I have absolutely no sympathy for the higher ups at Cruz Azul. Billy Alvarez gets more and more clueless as time goes on. And I just have a deep dislike of Garces. The way in which he basically caused Pelaez to quit was the biggest blunder the club has made probably since Markarian (with the understanding that the club has made so many blunders that pinpointing a single one is quite an undertaking).

Having said that, I can't cheer against them. I mean I didn't want Siboldi but he's here now and had nothing to do with the whole Pelaez situation, so you have to feel for the guy. The players are mostly still all Pelaez picks so again, it's hard to root against them. So yeah, I was happy they won on Saturday. I'm sure Siboldi will get dumped at the end of the season if they don't make the Liguilla so the whole process will begin again at summertime.

Paulinho Boia arrives to sign for Cruz Azul -

    https://www.esto.com.mx/466196-ulti...ano-liga-mx-cruz-azul-celestes-paulinho-boia/

Nothing of much note with this with the exception of one quote -
So once again we are on the old pattern of the higher ups signing players without the input (or probably knowledge) of the coach. I wonder how much input came from Ordiales for these latest signings ? I'm guessing not much since Garces basically thinks the sporting director should have no input on player acquisitions.
