Not a good performance. Better structure in possession, but need to get better in attack. Much better. Three match ban for auba hurts here.

Calling refereeing in England rubbish is an insult to rubbish.

For several reasons we shoulda won this match. We started bright but we couldn't quite keep that up and then they came out of their shell and it all changed. I'm neutral about how I feel about our performance today. Which goes along with the neutral result of a draw.

What he should have done. Ball was 5-6 yards forward from where foul happened

    FT: 1-1

Given the 10-men context that's not too bad. Gunners need to spend a week doing nothing but keep-away drills in practice to improve first-touch handling and quicker passing.

Not a great result but it wasn't a loss. Now to manage the upcoming matches without PEA.

Auba looked completely disconsolate upon being sent off. I can only imagine the multiple thoughts and emotions going through his head at the time.

Fair result with 10 men, didn't bag the second goal and then undid it. Need to improve in the final 3rd especially with short passing. Once Zaha knocked LT and Pepe down 30 mins in seems like CP came alive and so did their crowd. I suspected a 1-1 draw in this London derby and our away form is still poor but improving.

No doubt that was a red card imo, could’ve snapped his ankle

I do wish auba was t playing lw and we tried martinelli from the start

ozil didn’t do enough for me today either

lucky point but that laca mids was daft. I know he didn’t have much time but he should be smashing that up wards

weirdly our structure was better with the balm with ten men, I believe it was because we sat deeper. Too much space between lines and shit long balls before auba went off

We are back like we never left. That referee is utter garbage and please lets not ignore Tomkins foul which was terrible as well.

As for the performance lets remember Emery and his reign of error will not and cannot be undone in 3 games. I remain #artetahive because I see a plan. Implementing a plan is tougher than we think try it sometimes with just 2 people let alone 20 odd something millionaires

oh i don't blame arteta at all

Wenger got done over like this for a decade

It always happens the same way. They foul us to death, often including some bad injuries, then someone overreacts (remember Diaby) and gets a red.

Yup that was one thought I imagined. (Although I'm not sure it's completely true)

Others thoughts going through his head might have been: letting the team down when we had a match on the line to win; being upset about coming close to breaking a guy's ankle; as a captain, missing the next three matches, regardless of the golden boot ...

So annoyed with ozil. He’s like a child that behaves just long enough for you cut him some slack and then he’s right back to his old ways.

I'll agree with others in saying that if the challenge Aubameyang leveled had been on one of our players, I'd want a red. But I don't think there was any ill intent there (yes, I'm well aware that doesn't matter). It was just a late challenge and less cynical than Son's on Gomes, IMO. And on those grounds alone, I hope we appeal. I don't imagine it will succeed.

I also love (sarcasm) the irony in the fact that persistent fouling by Palace on Torreira results in him being subbed at halftime, and none of their players, most notably Ayew, even received a yellow for it.

That's the real issue with the tilted card tariff

When one team knows they can foul and get away with it, they go to town, so you have to physically respond - otherwise you get the "soft arsenal" thing

But controlled aggression is hard to do, and when you get it wrong, or lose your rag, then you get a red.

You could see when Ozil got fouled, got mad and tracked back and did a bad, angry foul, that we were at risk of a red ...

We have been screwed like this so many times

So Ayew had SEVEN fouls - literally half of his team's total - and not even a yellow shown. That has to be a record. And watching replays when Zaha intentionally shoved and undercut Pepe while he's defenseless in the air warrants post-game retribution by the league, even moreso since it directly caused Torreira's injury and substitution at HT.

Premier league refereeing is worse that VAR. And that's saying something.

I will take this point under the circumstances. This is more growing pains and Arteta and team are still a work in progress. At least we didn't roll over after Auba was sent off.

This is one reason I stopped watching football and went back to rugby

In recent years there was only one time I felt we got played by the ref in Rugby and that was at the 2007 world cup where we got not one single penalty infringement in the entire second half (simply insane).

Cricket? Completely cleaned up its act

    Football remains a corrupt farce.

There is no legitimate explanation for that.

    And it is a record.

The most fouls with no card. Imagine if a Pep player got away with that.
