not sure what they got but I don't understand that when you have a new USL team

Seems Bruce and Co. were not very high on anyone in the draft other than the guy they got

Agree with both quotes -- if someone values something you don't, then take their offer. From what we've seen of the Super Draft, there seem to be plenty of other ways of getting talent for free. So, that's $100,000 that you wouldn't have otherwise had. The other interesting note, speaking as a longtimer, is that $100,000 in today's MLS sure doesn't sound like much.

With the next pick (#44), ORL takes former Revs academy GK Austin Aviza.

Did you notice someone put an Orlando scarf on him and he was having none of that.

I like the Kessler pick, but he's got a lot of bodies in front of him. But, maybe his size will make him an option for the main squad.

Lekressner is a right back, which was a position of [depth] need for the Revs, so I like it from that vantage.

Another goalkeeper? WTH? Unless they think they have a hidden gem, picking up 2 keepers to replace one, even with a USL squad to fill out, seems strange.

good pick. Some folks had him rated high in the draft. To get him here is pretty good

I like the pick. This kid was said to be a potential first round keeper. Knighton will be 35 in February. Let him and Caldwell challenge Knighton for number 2 spot in camp and if not have them rotate games with Revs II and wait their time

I can understand Twellman's frustration, considering where the Revs were in 2002. The Krafts' philosophy toward the Revs was that we have a brand-new stadium with cup holders at every seat! Of course people are gonna want to come to a Revs game, because they are on the waiting list for the Pats, so that's the next best thing, amirite? IIRC, they gave Pats wait-list people free Revs tickets, but they didn't really factor in that it's a different demographic. But that didn't happen and they nearly decided to fold the team in August if it wasn't for the improbable Cup run. It was a very different world then, and had they let Nicol be the Arena of his generation, and get that one final piece of the puzzle, we might have won an MLS Cup or two during his time.

If he was a young player now and had the same kind of results, he would be making a ton more money, and given the league's higher profile overall, he would be a much bigger star. I bet he walked around in public all the time in his prime and very few people even would recognize him.

HILARIOUS!! And shocked that the Revs own website includes the video and audio of this quote.

Totally agree. I just thought it was funny that he spent two minutes going on and on about all the wonderful thing the Revs have done this year, but had to get that little dig in.

I remember back in 2006, I heard on the radio that Twellman was signing autographs at a local supermarket, so I took my son over to see him. We were the only ones there. We got to chat with him for quite a while, but I still felt bad for him.
