They gave Lampard, Terry, Drogba, Cech, Cole, Ivanovic, etc multi-year contracts that extended well into their respective thirties, azpilicueta was extended til 2022 recently, they take care of their players in that regard
What is Pulisic's salary, BTW? So, obviously, he was sold for ~$73 million (USD). But that was just the transfer fee. I did a search online for his salary and only came back with one hit to an old article and it stated that he makes 1 million and change but that was just a temporary salary and that he was still negotiating his annual salary (article was probably written in August 2019).
Most reports have CP around 145/150k pounds per week This site seems to have it up to date, with ODOI at around 180k/week. https://www.capology.com/club/chelsea/salaries/
You're talking about a handful of club legends there, which I don't think Willian qualifies as one. I heard the opposite that Chelsea does not tend to hand out long term contracts for players on the wrong side of 30. Both Luiz and Cahill were let go this past summer at 30/31 years of age.
Sounds like Lamps may make our wishes come true, but not sure how trustworthy it is: EXCLUSIVE: CHELSEA are cooling their interest in Jadon Sancho – because bringing in a new striker is more important. The Blues have enquired about the availability of Borussia Dortmund star Sancho and been told he would cost £120million. But Frank Lampard now believes there are more pressing areas in his squad to take care of because he already has plenty of wide attacking players to choose from.
Who needs defenders when all you have to do is score more goals!!! [emoji41] New formation should be: 0-4-6
I guess my point in that regard would be injuries have also hampered his goal production. And the incidence of injuries seems to track with him getting older. As a body ages, it naturally loses flexibility. Countering this physical change is a great way to extend the career. [Not to create another tangent, but Claudio Reyna was pretty broken down by the time he got back to New York. He was pretty good when healthy, but he only played 29 games in 1 1/2 seasons, and retired during the summer of that second season.] He's good for about a goal every other game in MLS when healthy, but he misses a third of his team's games. TFC's worst season, 2017, coincided with him missing 2/3 of their matches. His best year was the last one for AZ, when he was really healthy, and he scored 31 in 41. Health concerns have also has translated to a loss of production for the national team as well.
Makes sense, I think Sancho is a luxury buy. If you have 400M to spend in the Summer, Sancho might be on the target list. But if you have 200M to try to patch up some holes in the Winter, Sancho is far from that list.
Pulisic touches VS Brighton. https://streamable.com/3d78r Observation: Love to use his left foot..whether shooting or driving left to cross...it's a good thing since it makes him less predictable playing left-wing....But I'd like to see him cut inside more and shoot into the far post instead of near post. at 54:39 mark, he finally cut inside and the keeper was sitting at the near post...all CP had to do is pick the far post and lift the ball up..need to work on curling that ball into far post after cutting in.. Still loses possessions a bit too much...Willian is the opposite so hopefully he can learn from him a bit...
I thought he had a good game, he obviously needs to improve his striking but his passing is sharp. One of the big issues I saw in the first half was that there was simply nowhere forward to go with the ball. Good examples at: 8:30, 14:30, 23:35, 40:09. Second half more options were forward and his effectiveness increased. IMO he was their best attacker by a significant margin. Couple things though: Mount needs to make more forward runs into space to open up options, Tammy needs to come back from offsides positions with more urgency, so often he just waits for the defenders to pass him before he starts moving again. His approach seems to negatively impact the attack, just my two cents on that but he’s been doing it all season and it doesn’t seem to work.
He was getting closer and closer to scoring. Had he remained other 10 minutes, he'd have got the goal or at least the assist.
I wrote exactly that on the Shedends. I thought Frank pulled him about 10-15 min too early, Chelsea had the momentum and he was threatening.
Yes. His last 20 min on the pitch was very good. He really need to cut down on his turnovers during the attack. One of his turnovers led to a direct counter attack and strike on goal. Kepa saved him one there. CHO was crucified on the Chelsea forum for giving the ball away that ultimately led to the Brighton equalizer.
Loftus Cheek will play where mount is now. So mount either gets benched or moves to left wing, where he played earlier in the season, moving Pulisic even further down the bench. And that's not counting sancho and whoever else they buy. So yeah he's going to have to work very hard to be productive.
Assuming RLC comes back healthy and plays like he did last season... then he will be attacking central midfield. No reason why Mount can't play left/right midfield next to him. But no matter what... Chelsea is going to have a couple of additional options and CP is going to have to find some consistency in his scoring stats... Right now, they are padded based on his hot streak... he needs a goal/assist ASAP. But I will reiterate that I still don't think they are making the most of his talents right now... Frank keeps pulling/sitting him in key situations. This last game was the worst... right when he starts to make a serious impact you pull him for someone w/o any goals on the season? It made no sense.
