In July 2001 right after I retired, my wife and myself took a side trip from Barcelona to Tarragona for a day. Apparently Mohamed Atta and some of the 9-11 attackers were holding a summit there at the same time.

I was distracted at the topless beach so I didn't notice anything.

Geoff Cameron has been playing well for Queens Park Rangers in the Championship division in England. They have utilized him primarily as a defensive mid but also as a utility player for multiple back line positions.

QPR is mid table I believe. Geoff played at right back today against Cardiff and looked good.

He scored a goal in the game before last.

I wouldn’t mind him playing CB for the Dynamo but I think he may end up playing out the rest of his career there.

Well he supports Trump so all of the woke Dynamo fans like WebTilton won’t allow him to come back without a huge social media campaign against it

I know, he’s definitely a yankee who hates the heat here but he’s also definitely a mercernary and will go wherever he gets the bucks. Despite his dislike for the environment here he would give 100% for his team.

I don’t agree w some of his views but as long as he doesn’t make a public protest on my entertainment time in the stadium - He can do what he wants off the field.

im not going to assume and intimate nothing! even though i have my theories thats just not my style.

all i heard from a former Dynamo employee was that he just wasnt too keen on the city. its first hand info, so i place validity on it.

i get it. im a long time Houstonian and if you sent me to Boston i would probably be miserable with all those non "r" pronouncing yahoos.

People are indeed stupid, it's like that old joke about losing 50 IQ points when you gaze upon an attractive female's bumpy bits. Same thing happens when people get on social media.

    FYI

Geoff Cameron has been named team captain for QPR.

QPR won their first game of the season on Saturday against Nottingham Forest in the English Championship 2-0.

wow, QPR must be the most hated English team in the American soccer community because Cameron supports the president and stands for the anthem - how anti-American is Geoff???!!!!

QPR is actually in the same section of SW London as Fulham and Chelsea, all within walking distance of each other, and my response having watched a 0-0 draw was not anything you suggest but just that the fans seemed bored, sitting on their hands and not singing, I decided to never go back there, nice bland square box of a stadium, bored fans, mediocre team, hollow shell of what that once was (like Wimbledon for that matter, who were further out that end of town)

no, CFC and FFC are leaps beyond the lame QPR in terms of quality and atmosphere, and if you ever get there FFC has a cool stadium in the middle of a Thameside park. i don't know if you can still get to the embankment from the riverside stand

the subtle thing with "Rangers" would be that they are basically the protestant team in the area.....they used to groundshare with "Wasps" rugby if that says anything.....stadium is on South Africa Road.....

I am pro Cameron doing whatever he wants, which is what real freedom looks like. the current thing of some stand and some kneel is perfect. what was gross was running the guy who knelt out of the league. what's worse is listening to people try to justify it in sporting terms when he managed 16 TD and 4 INT his last season on a SF team that barely won any games, which should get you a medal and a starting job someplace. this is a league where blaine gabbert is employed.

worse, the current occupant who stoked the flames on the issue ran the USFL into the ground and has several million reasons to hate the NFL. he is hardly disinterested.

no, when you strip away the orwellian BS, no one is making you kneel, but the original kneeler is still blackballed.

no, you're tossing around a straw man, most "libs" don't think you should have to kneel, and worse, it was the original conservative response that was a speech distortion ie "censorship." it might have been ok if your response was boycott -- though that would be trying to repress his speech by removing consumption -- but it ended up with running the guy off for his speech, which is a much more direct version of shutting him up.

no, if you wanna pimp the most boring team in SW London have at it

Dude the attack is a little uncalled for

Look at the thread title - just sharing some info on a former Dynamo player. It doesn’t mean I support or decry the club or a specific players political activities or the NFL or a specific religion or America’s current President.

I do wish the best to Cameron and I hope he behaves himself.

heck I wish the best to all players that gave their best effort to the Dynamo.

I consider myself incredibly lucky to have seen a handful of big derbies, like Barca v. Madrid at the Camp Nou, Bayern v. Dortmund at the Allianz, and Rangers v. Celtic at Ibrox. All were great. No complaints (except prices for the Clasico).

Oddly, though, my most memorable experiences were at the smaller, aging, and in some cases, dilapidated stadia. The stands are far closer to the pitch, and the seats are also smaller. Got to know my seatmates incredibly well, whether I wanted to or not. My fondest memories are of Pittodrie Road in Aberdeen, Tynecastle Park in Edinburgh, and the Estadio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega in Cusco, Peru.

Estadio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega was a real structural hazard, and dogs roamed in and out of the stadium and onto the pitch from the street. The ticket seller was shocked a gringo wanted to watch Cienciano, which is not a perennial power in Peruvian footy. The memories were great, though. The stadium had an amazing view of the Andes' high peaks, and there were seemingly no rules. Shared tall boys with Cusco locals, and the in-stadium concessions were actually ladies who wheeled in all their foodstuffs and pounded out tortillas and whatnot in front of you.

In the same vein, I am very fond of Loftus Road.

EDIT: I just googled the Estadio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega to attach a photo. It appears to have been renovated at some point. Looks amazing with the colored seats and, yes, walls. When I went, seating was concrete.

Salon reports today that Trump did a NYT op ed when he was a Reform candidate pimping mail and email voting as democratic.

Everyone thinks he is Mr. Authenticity. He is an actor selling himself. He has shirts made in China and then rips on China trade. He is against trade agreements then makes several.

In terms of principles, he has none and is a fraud. The shame of it is that his temperament of hatefulness has soaked into the national pores where whatever he says this week gets argued as gospel. And not just calm debate, he will have people angrily trolling what he thinks this week. Like there isn't an op ed saying the opposite in 2000.

It's only that his supporters don't realize he donated to the Clintons before, and is all things to all people over long enough a period.

He doesn't believe in science or math or facts. It's not TDS, it's common sense.

And you don't get to go running around picking fights and then claiming any response is TDS. Just like when two people talk on a bulletin board one of them isn't a crybaby for pressing reply back.
