969 attempted passes, 874 completed which is a record for Liverpool FC and I think only second to Man City
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder speaking to Match of the Day: "Little bit drained - disappointed in our performance tonight, we never laid a glove on them. If there's ever an example of a team doing well and with the desire, that's Liverpool. "The first balls, second balls, running forward, tackling, defending, being aggressive; they [Liverpool] showed all those qualities. It's a great example for our team. We were off the pace. Maybe the Manchester City game took more out of them than I expected - our goalkeeper kept us in the game. For us to get anything, we would have had to perform really well and we didn't. "Every time we tried to press they played around us with the quality they have got. All the stuff that gets talked about in academies, with young coaches - just look at what they did in terms of the basic stuff that gives you an opportunity to play and dominate. That's what they did to us. Not only technically, but tactically, they are a fantastic side. We have been well beaten. "People talk about us having afternoons and nights like this when we came to the Premier League. We have not had that done to us all season until now so that's a small comfort. But it still hurts, we are still professionals. I believe if we played near our best we could have got something but we weren't anywhere near it."
How did Trent do this? My right back is better than your whole midfield pic.twitter.com/GxS7vxsEdr— MrBoywunder (@MrBoywunder) January 3, 2020
Klopp hinted that he would make wholesale changes. He obviously knows best, but I tend to agree with you. If we took the FA Cup seriously, we would win it. Nobody can beat us. The injuries are really piling up. Lallana and Origi were the only non kids left on the bench. Mane and Salah will also be flying Egypt for Tuesday’s Africa player of the year award. Mane is the favorite to win it.
Should have Minamino bedded in soon... Origi is always there, hopefully Fab and Ox both back soon right? That and Lovren should ease some of the overall anxiety. Honestly have no idea what's going on with Naby and Shaq, they seem further away. Matip too I have no idea, currently.
Oh Lovren has no date, and Ox has no date. That's too bad. Looks like Matip and Shaq should be back soon, though. Although Matip will require work to get into game shape after such a layoff. Naby, who the ******** knows. Brewster has no date either. Fabinho, could have sworn he was back soon? He has no date on physioroom... Hopefully by the end of the month things will be looking better injury-wise, which is nice because at that point the fixture list gets a little easier in and around the Atletico tie. So will be a good chance to bed some of those guys back in. Hopefully Minamino gets up and running ASAP!
It seems like Matip is back soon as is Shaq - both either at or right after Spurs. Ox - probably the end of the month. Brewster will be loaned. Lovren - not sure Fab - middle to end of the month. Naby - I guess we find out tomorrow.
The last month or two we've been without Matip - was playing the best footie of his LFC career Shaq - a guy who has shown he can turn a game on a dime, and score important goals/assists, even when not playing regularly Ox - back from terrible injury, was putting in superb displays and scoring great goals Lovren - was playing the best footie of his LFC career Fab - hailed as the best CM in the league and arguably our most important midfielder Naby - finally available after repeat injuries, put in some great displays and scored great goals yet in that period we've won the CWC and set PL records. it really does defy belief. what a truly special team, and a truly special manager, we have.
Henderson has stepped into that Fabinho role and played the best football of his life. He is on fire at the moment. Man of the match again today.
In reality, he's been asked to play that role before... but the difference this time is he's got a real defense behind him! LOL
Guys, I'm convinced... This team can win the premiere title. Before you castigate me for my temerity.... Listen to the statistical facts.... It is not just me... (www.fivethirtyeight.com) gives Liverpool a 97% chance to win the PL. For those not versed in US politics, this group of statisticians have predicted who would gain the 538 votes necessary to win the presidential election - and they have been better at it than most anyone else for the last 2-3 election cycles. Mostly because they are using statistically relevant methods to assess electoral chances.
If we think it is more than likely to happen... then really the question is WHEN will it happen... Why am I interested in this? Because I'd like to have a chance to be there, or be a part of, the lead up to winning the PL... But WHICH GAME SHOULD I/We TARGET?
i'm so excited, happy and full of confident due to this interesting show and team run till now in the league. i hadn't predicted this match to be an easy one like that. another important 3 pts in row with a clean sheet at anfield. which i'm also happy for that we won the game with no injury for any player.. a nice goal by Salah from one touch after a good assist by Roberston, the 2nd goal was also beautiful, one touch ball between Mane and Salah.. they invested the counter attack quite well to score the 2nd goal and securing this win. we dominated the game easily, i remembered the most dangerous chance for Sheffield was in the minute of 86 but saved superbly by Alisson
if we don't win the EPL this season by this magnificent squad and their great performance, then we never do every match is important to win no matter what, even some draws will hurt us exactly as what happened last season
I’m going to enjoy the ride but not get too excited for a bit. The nice part is the dwindling games for the others to make up points.
jeez hubba - curb your enthusiasm OK? of course we are all excited right now. of course we all believe we CAN win this year - anyone with eyes believes it - but any talk about "we'll win it on X date" is simply not cool. no wonder other fans are calling us arrogant. there's no point celebrating something that hasn't happened yet, screw % estimates and all that crap. we've been down this road before.
If We Win the next 4,then things will start looking really really Good. Spurs (A),Utd (H),Wolves (A) and West Ham (A)..After those 4 games our Schedule is much kinder until we face City in April. Bite our teeth and eke out 4 out of 4 here and we must be well on our way.
Yeah we need to deal with Jose’s bus first. And honestly - I’m more worried about Spurs without Kane as it allows Son to be the focal point with Moura instead of Claim trying to score and do everything.
