Nuno plays the same XI almost every single match. The only reason he rested Raul and Traore a bit today was due to the congestion of the so-called "festive fixtures."

You can hardly fault him for not starting those two today. Managers across the PL always have to rotate this time of year.

Tactically I don't blame Nuno for resting Raul, that's only a 2 day rest for such a physically demanding Man City game prior to this one. Then I can see how a Diego Jota and Pedro Neto forward attack has different dynamics that may trip up an opposing strategy expecting another forward duo or single striker formation. Getting points at Anfield these days is pretty hard and Wolves almost pulled it off if not for some sketchy VAR. I thought it was the armpit these days not the fingers or hands?

 

New year, same bullshit. Raul was the only one that came to play. Should have punched that ballboy in the face.

 

So much for resting your starters to win the "easy" game. Dumb move by the manager. Players get hyped up and want to play the big dogs.

 

Like the rest of his teammates, Raul had a pretty forgettable game today. Wasn't as active, didn't really look dangerous, and gave the ball away to set up Watford's second goal.

Way too often, Wolves trip on these banana peel matches against shit teams like Watford. Until they iron that out, they won't be serious top four contenders.

 

It's kind of a weird schedule EPL has though. They've only been getting like 3 days rest between matches and they plan Man U on Saturday. In a way, I understand why the coach is rotating. 4 games in a 10 day span seems a lot.
