Winter break timetable BVB 03 January - resume team training, lactate test 04-12 January - training camp Marbella, Spain 07 January - friendly vs Standard Liège 11 January - friendly vs Feyenoord Rotterdam 18 January - Bundesliga matchday 18 vs Augsburg
What is a lactate test? It's a test that measures the amount of lactic acid (also called “lactate”) in your blood. This acid is made in muscle cells and red blood cells. It forms when your body turns food into energy. Your body relies on this energy when its oxygen levels are low.
Moukoko training with 1st team over winter. Earliest he can play is 2021 in august. No word on reyna.
That's not really true, unless they play 2 strikers a significant amount. Otherwise this won't impede Reyna who is a wing/10. If anything it could improve his chances because now there's less impetus to keep Gotze and Bruun Larsen, two players who doubled at those positions and striker. Offloading them would mean he should make benches regularly the second half of the season.
Reyna could easily play at striker. That may ultimately be his position. In any event imposing Haaland into the team may push Reus and others to play more wide or as a 10 at times. It's one more very talented attacking player fighting for time.
I think Reyna's future is at striker unless he remains a unicorn that can retain his speed and quicks on the wing as he grows into that frame. But Haaland isn't direct competition so much as he gives BVB a proper #9 for the first time since Auba and it will push Reus and others outside. But Sancho and Bruun Larsen and Gotze are on borrowed time so Dortmund will do what it always does and bring more players through the ranks if they can cut it. He'll get his chance, in the ruckrunde or next year.
I haven't read too deep into this thread. What age group is Gio playing with currently? Regarding his body type/size and position, I don't think it really matters who Dortmund have right now or who they'll bring in in the near term. The kid is just barely 17 and there's still time to figure out his position. Dortmund is obviously a great place to be at that age, given their recent history. If he's good, he'll get a chance. It is hard to believe, though (knowing nothing about him, personally) that a 6' kid is going to be a number 10 as a pro, but what do I know?
Cool! Good place to be. Sounds like he might get some Weston Mckennie minutes by season's end if he continues his progress.
Honestly, Moukoko is the best one on that team, although it will be interesting to see how he stacks up against men.
There is a midfielder kid Tobias Raschl who has been riding the bench all season for Dortmund. He was promoted to first team from U19 in summer 2019. He has some reportedly great potential and has been with BVB since summer 2015. I could see him as competition for Reyna to get minutes since Raschl has not seen any yet. Raschl may be first in line right now.
If he's ready, AND he has it in him, Gio can force the conversation in practice playing with grown men. Nothing else matters.
Don't know why being 6' would be an impediment to being an a-wing. The GOAT Ronny is 6'2. Gio played striker at the worlds and it didn't look natural. Was confused about which runs to make and tendency was to drop deep. BVB considers Gio as their top prospect over Moukoko and Raschl. So I don't know why we shouldn't or be too worried. And they've shown tendency to clear path for their academy talents. The biggest question is if Favre will integrate.
After watching Moukoko i dont really see him being physically that much more dominant than his peers. Unless hes like 21 his dominance is still hella impressive
Have we heard if Reyna is training with the 1st team over the break yet? I looked around the internet, and all I could find was that the team was going to Spain from 1/4-1/12 and will play 2 friendlies, but I couldn't find a roster for that.
According to Kicker, Dortmund are not looking to fill Weigl's spot with another incoming transfer if it goes through.
