I can confirm that you took tweet and comment not about you and tried to make it about you as your narcissistic need to be on a high horse and the single voice of reason in a forum of group think had to be feed.
Merry Christmas. I hope you can find what you need to overcome the hate you express on these message boards.
According to the WP Guliani was included on a call aimed at easing Maduro out of office. I don't have any qualms about easing Maduro out of office but I do have qualms about using a lawyer who now is less competent than the ones advertising about personal injuries on tv. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...9dc6aa-235f-11ea-86f3-3b5019d451db_story.html
The Venezuela Socialist party gets throw out, what ever new government comes in and as a thank you, it gifts the Trump organization the 'Centro Financiero Confinanzas' skyscraper, so Trump can convert it to a new Trump Tower Caracas. Rudy will be the lawyer. https://www.vice.com/da/article/8gvm5p/atlas-hoods-venezuelas-skyscraper-slum https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centro_Financiero_Confinanzas
Trump along with his Junta certainly seem to be changing the laws to suit themselves. Is America about to suffer its Weimar moment, culminating in the collapse of its republican institutions? Our democracy may be far more rooted than that of Germany’s first republic, which fell in 1933 to Adolf Hitler, but there are disturbing similarities. A polarizing would-be despot as national leader, rising anti-Semitism, an out-of-control upper bureaucracy, a politicized media and education systems, an economically stressed middle class, widespread dalliance with extremist ideologies and the rise of armed militant groups. America’s descent to authoritarianism is far from pre-ordained, but the reality remains that it could happen here, and perhaps already is. https://www.thedailybeast.com/is-am...weimar-moment?via=newsletter&source=DDMorning
It already happened when GOP controlled congress (and now senate alone) refused to conduct oversight of the executive The difference is you still have actual elections
At this point I'm perfectly fine with the republic collapsing. Democracy isn't working when the will of the people is routinely ignored anyway. As long as the would-be despot is MY would-be despot.
Back on topic, item #1013 of "My God, who wouldn't get in line to vote against this guy"? Trump's Treasury administration meets with lobbyists from major corporations, in response re-interprets portions of the 2017 tax bill so as to increase both corporate tax breaks and the national debt - https://www.commondreams.org/news/2...-quietly-handed-billions-more-tax-breaks-huge I wonder - 1) How many people who talked about draining the swamp actually meant avoiding things like this, as opposed to that just being a code word for "get rid of Democrats"? 2) Of those who did actually want to avoid things like this, how many have noticed and cared that Trump fills the swamp more than any President imaginable? I'd have to think that percentage is shockingly low, but perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised in November 2020.
"Draining the Swamp" meant things that could possibly benefit brown or black people. The other stuff you gave lip service to but no one really cared about among the base.
That might be the accurate explanation. I think there was also just some of "give me a new face." The more of that the merrier, because those voters will be up for grabs in 2020, while those other voters certainly will not be.
Are you actually trying to persuade anyone that it was really about draining the swamp? 'Cause that's gonna be a pretty tough sell...
No, he was certainly lying, which is obvious now, but I think people elected him thinking he would stop what was viewed as corrupt politicians. Not saying I agree with that sentiment because I certainly do not, but I have heard more than a few of my Trump voting friends express that opinion. I am certain it wasn't anything to do with skin color.
Stanger has talked before about people he knew who wanted a change, a non-politician, something different. Which is where I got my second explanation from. Certainly, some of those people were out there.
