There are rumors that Arteta wants to get Rabiot on loan from Juventus.

i like xhaka as a player - shortcomings and all - but this is ridiculous. praising you in public while keeping criticism/negativity in private, particularly, with you is literally what arteta should be doing. what? you want him to shit on you in public?

It's not. Auba has been excellent, but Leno has been unbelievable. Plus he's tripled in value in 2 seasons, which makes him a better buy, imo.

I have difficulty with this because we have made signings that never even made the light of day for our team.

There are so many just crap signings. Squillaci, Andre Santos, Park, either of the Japanese wingers. Plus the free transfer strikers, Chamakh and Sanogo.

For me, no signing encapsulates the futility of this decade more than Joel Campbell. The mighty Dick Law on a quest to sign him from Central America, the promise that he'd be in the first team for about 6 years, then fading away to obscurity. The worst signing of the decade is Joel Campbell.

Yeah but we paid so much ££ for Mozz and looks like we will recover zero

Usually Wenger products had at least some value in the market.

Guys, our worst signing this decade is Lucas Perez. Bought for like 20 million, sold for three, did absolutely nothing at Arsenal.

Best signing this decade? That's harder, because there is competition, but I think it's either Koscielny or Giroud. My vote goes to Giroud. But if Cazorla doesn't do his knee, he wins it going away.

Mustafi would be fine in a team that's built to defend and provides him cover. But he got worse as things went on. Young enough that we could sell him for something, and you wonder if a good defensive coach couldn't fix many of his issues. But his confidence is completely gone and we shouldn't keep him.

He’s a. Player that fills out the stat sheet, but just makes to many mistakes. Someone will take a chance on him.

Comparing stats for defenders, especially center backs, is risky.

Don't fall off your seats, but here I perform the role of @chjoak...

Rumor is that Nketiah is going to be recalled from Leeds loan, where he's gotten precious little playing time. But instead of bringing him back to N5 to augment our strikers or allow for the early departure of Auba/Laca, they're going to find another club to loan him to, for more playing time. Maybe Bristol City.

I very randomly came across this tidbit and decided to share it generously. ;)

Mustafi is the case that proves that point.

    Guess I'm slippin a bit ;)

I've heard the Eddie news. Supposedly we are talking to 2-3 championship clubs that will guarantee him playing time. There is also a chance he could be kept on in London if one of PEA/Laca are sold.

    Other rumors...

    - Arteta is rumored to have spoken to Adrien Rabiot personally about his vision for the rest of the season and how Rabiot would fit. The rumored deal is a loan but I've seen a couple sources suggesting that Juventus are looking at options to permanently replace him so there is a chance it could be a transfer or loan to buy.

    - the FO/Board are rumored to be backing the pursuit of Dayot Upamecano in Jan. It is rumored that he may be available for roughly £40m due to his current contract expiring in 2021 and his refusal to renew.

Not really a rumor but more of a thought...

Lemar has been rumored to be on the way out at Atletico as is Diego Costa leaving them at need for a ST. Atletico pursued Lacazette out of Lyon and are rumored to still be interested him. Could we pull off a Laca for Lemar + cash deal? Gets us a true LW and Atletico a ST. Neither player is currently fitting at their club but have the history/potential to be much better. If we pull off that plus Rabiot & Upamecano we could run with...

    ------------------ PEA -----------------
    Lemar -------- Ozil -------- Pepe
    ------ Rabiot ------ Torreira ------
    Tierney - Luiz* - Upa - Bellerin

    * Or Sok/Holding

Leipzig is currently at the top of the table in Germany. There is no way this happens in January unless Arsenal significantly overpay.

So pay now to complete the transfer in the summer, or do a buy/loan back.

I'd be good with that. More than willing to wait until the summer for him. We could always find a loan deal to help out out DF for the rest of the season.

That works but the fan hysteria about the rumor assumes that he would be available to help Arsenal in the new year. He’s not joining in January.

Mustafi is the worst signing Wenger ever made.

Pepe is looking like the worst signing in the club’s history tho.

he's a tough one to argue because of the cost and, really, lack of success. he had maybe one good stretch, i think? when he had koscielny to cover for his regularly scheduled fuck up?
you think pepe is recoverable? like, could it just be adjustment period combined with whatever happened with emery? or just wrong player/wrong league?

i'm hopeful of more transfers like this happening after saliba. if i am not mistaken, we lost out on a good number of possible transfers because this was an absolute no go for wenger?
